​@seant1326 I guess it's similar to how in the real world, a crucifix or cross is a Christian symbol or how the Star of David is what Jews use as their symbol. Decepticonism is more of a political philosophy such as Communism or Anarchism but the same principles apply. We don't know what kind of person Megatronus was, maybe he was a "might makes right" type of guy and Megatron identified with that because he wanted to be strong like his idol.

The Decepticon symbol (Megatronus’ face) was originally a symbol of peace and a symbol of hope to D-16. For transformers one continuity, Megatron lead the revolution (and continues the fight) under the symbol of Megatronus that was burned into Megatron’s chest. The only difference is the n*zi’s were always the bad guys, who wanted to kill all the people they saw as impure, whilst the Decepticons weren’t all evil but good people who were tainted by the betrayal of Sentinel Prime, who wish for Cybertron to not be lead under one person (or in other continuities a corrupt council). I’m probably looking too much into it but I think this makes sense.

I noticed that a ton of the famous Autobots like Optimus, Bumblebee (still not called that), Elita-1, Wheeljack, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Hound and Arcee, the miners, originate as civilians (even if not the ideal version), whereas virtually EVERY Decepticon like Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Slipstream and the Coneheads originate as part of the Cybertronian High Guard, a military branch. Reminds me of them in Animated...🤔

Here's a fun tidbit: Zeta Prime, the holder of the Matrix in the film and the Prime's leader, is visually based off a boss from War for Cybertron named Sentinel Zeta Prime. Therefore, this film shows the best and worst of Sentinel: the corrupt, deceptive and ruthless leader unworthy of the Matrix via Sentinel, and the noble, revered hero and leader of legend worth of the Matrix via Zeta. So when Sentinel executed Zeta, he was killing his best self, in a way!

As D-16 evolves into Megatron, I noticed that, as the T Cogs reformat his body, his original head (inspired by an early version of his G1 head from around 1983) is encased, and to me, it symbolises that within Megatron's tough exterior, D-16 is still in there...🥹

The sympathetic backstory and motivation for the Decepticons is also a somewhat modified version of a comic book prequel for Transformers Prime and the Bay Films had a similar comic book prequel. The main difference being Megatron was originally a gladiator in both those continuities and Megatronus Prime was a traitor who later became the Fallen, the first Decepticon.

You're also like, the first reactor I've come across so far who knows your references/lore, since you've watched Prime, Animated and even P:RiD. Other reactors are either G1 but aren't actual hardcore, so they're working on fragmented memories and nostalgia. Or Bayverse, which isn't even consistent from one movie to another. Too bad you haven't been collecting the toys for awhile, or you'd have noticed that the Primus transformation at the start of the movie basically follows the Cybertron Primus toy's transformation. Oh, and the green nursebot at the beginning was probably a Paradron Medic, not Ratchet.

This honestly is the *BEST TRANSFORMERS MOVIE IVE EVER SEEN!* Everything from the stellar animation, music, fantastic fight scenes and choreography, the story, the character arcs and great voice acting was just incredible. Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry truly blew me away, mainly because they absolutely killed it as Optimus and Megatron and brought a level of humanity to the characters as you truly understand where both of them are coming from and how much they care for each other as friends as it genuinely breaks your heart watching them fall apart. Brian Tyree Henry especially brought such a level of complex tragedy and emotional pain as D-16/Megatron, which I've never seen before when it comes to the character. Honestly, he might be my new favourite take on Megatron. Usually, Megatron has never been portrayed as a sympathetic villain who was a product of a corrupt system in most media outside of the TF comics. I loved how you can see his thought process through his eyes and how he was genuinely happy being a miner and believed in the system, but after learning about the truth about Sentinel, his entire worldview shatters, and his mental state slowly collapses more and more. The moment he is mocked and tortured by Sentinel, D-16 finally has had enough, and the moment he accidentally shoots Orion, we see I'm going through a complete emotional breakdown seeing his best friend almost dead but also perceiving it as a betrayal as D-16 has always had to cover Orion and save him for all his recklessness. However, he still chooses to take the bullet because he is trying to save D-16 from making a terrible mistake, but ultimately, it is too late, and now only Megatron exists. Chris Hemsworth was also surprisingly excellent as Optimus Prime, and it really shocked me how much range he has as an actor/voice actor as he sounded like a young Peter Cullen. I especially love his arc of growing to understand his responsibilities and that scene where Orion inspires the miners to fight back against Sentinel was so empowering because it really shows what kind of person Orion is as I love the detail of Orion kneeling down at the miners' level because, unlike Sentinel, he was one of them and saw all of them as friends and family and inspiring all of them like a good father figure, which is everything Optimus Prime should be, a noble, hopeful leader whos never afraid to be gentle or compassionate to others. The movie is also surprisingly dark, as the trailers did not do this movie justice. There are genuinely a few mature and gruesome moments that shocked me and made me question whether this was a PG movie? It may have some moments of fun and levity for kids, which is funny, but when it needs to, it knows when to take itself seriously. It knows that the audience is smart enough to understand the Transformers franchise lore, which I appreciate. Im just disappointed with how poorly Paramount marketed this movie was as it truly deserved better promotion for such a great movie and yet the box office has many concerned that we might not even get a sequel, which I really hope this movie does get a trilogy of Transformers animated films because there is still so much potential to dive into the Civil War of Cybertron, the Quintessons, how Cybertron ultimately collapsed from the war and explore these characters on a deeper level.

The only Autobots to get lines were Wheeljack (the one that hit the vein in the tunnel and caused the explosion which is pretty much par for the course of Wheeljack, he was always blowing stuff up), Sideswipe (the red-chested bot with the black head that activated the tunnel support and was standing behind Arcee when Orion gave his speech to the miners), Arcee (the pink and white female), Jazz (the one that got caught in the tunnel) and Ironhide (the one standing up for the miners against Darkwing). Sideswipe and Optimus have always been my favorites, so I spotted Sideswipe as soon as he appeared in the background when D and Pax were on the train. I would like to see someone go through in slow-mo and name all the bots shown. I saw Brawn and Sunstreaker for sure and I think I saw Prowl, Bluestreak, Hound and Trailblazer.

I will make the argument that optimus tried to stop d-16 from killing sentinel not for the sake of sentinel but for the sake of his freinds soul. Sentinel was beaten, was done. There was no honor or virtue in killing him. Fact is d-16 was acting like sentinel wanting to destroy and kill any who did not join his camp. Wanting to rule and run by strength not by will of the people but because he is the strongest.

1:05:13 fun fact: after Megatron loses to Optimus Prime in the final batte if you look closely you can see Megatron actually cries as Optimus speaks to him...that wasn't Megatron...it was the only part of D-16 left before realizing he lost his brotherly friendship with Orion and also as they are fighting you can see that Optimus doesn't deliver fatal blows to Megatron..he was more trying to subdue him because he still wanted to see the good in his brother under all the rage

When Optimus banishes Megatron and the High Guard you can see tears coming from Megatron's eyes which also dim for a brief moment. This is to show us despite becoming Megatron there is still a small sliver of D-16 that remains.

I really appreciate how Chris Hemsworth and BT Henry both significantly change their voices during the course of the movie. I did notice that people were questioning why they didn't sound like their characters at first or questioning whether they were really right for the roles but if you just listen to their voice lines at the start and at the end you can really note the difference in their tone and even the grammar they choose. They still aren't 100% Optimus and Megatron at the end of THIS movie but it will be so cool to have them fully settle into recognizable versions of the G1 voices by a sequel.

Because it isn't clear and because his design was so different, the Prime that Sentinel stabbed through the back and took the weapons from was Nexus Prime, who in the Prime universe was the first Combiner. Whether he holds that distinction in the One universe is unknown, but still sad for him to be the first to be betrayed!

Say what you want about Megatron, but that standing up in front of Sentinel moment is really inspiring. I would recommend that you check out the Cybertron game trilogy. Although a lot of fans refuse to believe this, it is connected to the Prime & RID timeline. The three games are: - War for Cybertron - Fall of Cybertron - Rise of the Dark Spark (Half of this game takes place in the Prime universe before Fall of Cybertron, the other half is a universe parallel to the Bayverse.) It's been leaked that Microsoft could be remastering these games (WfC and FoC at least) within the next few months if you want to wait and see if they do get remastered before checking them out.

There are a few differences here compared to previous Transformers origin stories: 1. Megatron usually starts out as a gladiator in the Cybertronian arena whilst Optimus indeed started out as a cogless mining bot called Orion Pax and they did indeed start out as best friends who called each other "Brother" due to their shared ideals, however over time Megatron became more militant and power hungry whilst Orion/Optimus held true to the diplomatic and democratic ideals they started out with and was rewarded with the Matrix of Leadership for his integrity which of course intensified Megatron`s hatred of his former brother in arms . 2. The Quintessons are sometimes regarded as the creators or at least conquerors of the Transformers, here they are definitely in the latter category, whilst in the Bay Films they were in the former. 3. Sentinel Prime is usually a true Prime albeit somewhat of a blowhard who exaggerates his accomplishments by stealing the stories of other Primes, here he`s a false Prime and traitor. 4. In this continuity, Megatronus Prime is regarded as a hero by the miners of Iacon, in most continuities he is a traitor who later becomes The Fallen, the first Decepticon. 5. In many past continuities, the cogs were actually used by the Cybertronians` enemies to suppress transformations as opposed to being the medium through which they occurred as shown here.

TFO shows a good example of the "don't be like them" trope. Throughout the movie, D-16 and co. are on the defensive, fighting for their lives. All the violence and action performed was in self-defense. When D-16 finally killed Sentinel, however, he was dethroned, stripped of his power, defenseless. It was an actual senseless execution because Orion Pax and co. had already WON.

D-16 had died when he made the choice to drop Orion Pax to his death, but the very last remnants of him truly disappeared when he was banished

If you didn’t notice Airachinid was the only transformer to have purple optics and considering the deceptions were not even formed yet it makes me wonder if Dark Energon will come in at some point. I also believe Airachind is actually a servant to Unicron sent on the planet to spy on everything including Sentinel which she allied with to avoid suspicion. She said she sees everything which makes me wonder that’s not actually her saying that but Unicron is using her as a vessel to look over everything because he wasn’t mentioned at all because he’s a huge reason as to why Primus sacrificed himself to begin with so that was definitely done on purpose to set him up as the overachieving big bad

Without a doubt, Transformers One is the best film I’ve seen from the franchise is forever! I really enjoyed the origin story of the Cybertronian characters and how they divided into the two parties we know as the Autobots and Decepticons. Great cast, fun humor, awesome music, and cool animation too.

If you think about it, the arms that began the friendship of Orion Pax and D-16 were the ones that ended it. D-16 used his right arm, the one that eventually gets the Fusion Cannon and the triple-barreled cannon, and Orion Pax used his left arm, the one that he lost after he got in the way of D-16 killing Sentinel. It's like, when he lost that arm, it was a signal to the audience that their friendship was over. Kinda poetic, don't you think?
