I stopped wearing wigs in 2020 and I have NEVER looked back. Going natural full time was the best thing to happen in my life. I love the versatility of type 4 hair, I love scrolling on Pinterest looking for hairstyle inspiration. Wearing my hair out full time ignited the creativity in me. I also feel like my life is fuller because of it. I love my moms reactions when she sees what hairstyle I was able to achieve this week, and she’s even starting to wear her natural hair out more because of me. It’s been so rewarding for me……..but I don’t think it’s for everyone. People get mad when I say it, but I find it delusional to think every black woman is willing to invest that much time and energy into natural hair. I feel like being natural goes well with certain personalities and not all personalities so at the end of the day, we really just gotta do what speaks to our heart the most. You can never go wrong following your heart ❤ Thank you for sharing!!

I’ve literally been thinking about this recently, especially with the fact that braids have been harming my hair more than helping but this video just made me realize that whether it’s natural hair or a wig, it all requires energy and honestly, I rather put heat into a wig that I can reuse and wear more often than trying to manipulate my natural hair.

Girrllll 👏🏾👏🏾 everything you said. And most of us side with you and understand! Wigs are accessories that encourage growth, they encourage self-esteem, they encourage style & spontaneity & much more. I may wear my hair out for 1-2 weeks every 45 days. And i nourish my strands and scalp. Do what you like. Remember, you are helping so many of us along the way💛

I think it is also very important to acknowledge the fact that we have been conditioned since our very early age to hate our natural hair. We see it as “not presentable” enough, unattractive or unappealing. And that plays a lot in the fact that we would rather deal with wigs (even though the process is just as equally exhausting), because we see them as a way to “level up”, a way to boost our self-esteem. There’s a lot to say about this.

I live in wigs because I HATE dealing with my natural hair as a full time student and working full time and i dont care about anyone else’s opinion on it. I wake up pull on the wig with a hat and off to work i go then school then come home pull it off before doing my assignments

Im fr trying to go wig free in the next year, but ironically i need wigs to cover my braids to keep them moisturized protected and unmanipulated while they grow in peace. African hair is so unique i almost love wigs to have that front to the world like they dont deserve my true natural beauty unless they really do. African hair is literally the most beautiful and most high maintenance, but na we dey here. God has given us all these tools to have fun with

i have naturally very fine 4C hair. When I wear it in an afro, you can see through it. The light literally will shine through my afro and will reflect off the product on my scalp and it's looks like i have even less hair. I wear wigs b/c of lack of natural fullness. When i cornrow my afro it looks so think like the cornrows you see on a 7 year old with fine hair.....if you were blessed with thick dense hair by all means do you, but sadly i wasnt one of "Gods Favorites" but this is my reason i prefer wigs

This is the issue I’m having. And sometimes after all that time my wig lifts etc and it doesn’t even look that cute

About in 2020 I cut my actual hair off. I given myself a buzzcut and just straight up, started wearing wigs and haven’t stopped since. ❤
