The wide angle and ultra wide is all the craze right now. I started it doing it 6 years ago with my phone and my kids hated it, but now, I find all my kids and their friends always using the ultawide. It is about being able to laugh at yourself and not taking life too seriously. I have Rokinon 24mm and the 35 mm. I've been using both and they will help me decide which gm I should buy and I am inching closer and closer to the 24mm gm.

Welcome back to the 24mm :-) I'm still rocking the 85mm f1.4 and 24mm f1.4 for my weddings and I still love that combo :-)

24mm and 85mm is my favorite combo too

Wild! I’ve been a 35/85 shooter for years and then I tried the 24 GM for two weeks and bought it. Then I started shooting more with the 50 and here I am

I’ve just switched over to the 24 1.4 and 50 1.2 GM’s from a Sony 20 1.8, Sigma 35 1.2 and Sigma 85 1.4. I still have the 85, but the 24/50 combo is absolute 🔥

Same here 24/50 is my jam for weddings. The 50 1.2 is special, my most used lens. Pretty much never use my 35 & 85. Q2 for EDC, also sometimes wish there was something similar with a 50..

24 is nice. My personal preference is 135mm GM. Breath taking every time

Did own a 24mm F1.4 GM at one point, sold it at another buying one again in a few days. :D Gonna pair it with my 50mm F1.4 GM. I have to say the extra cost and weight of the F1.2 version is not worth it getting it over the F1.4, but that's just what I think. I love the F1.4 GM, it's such an amazing lens. Also everyone around here does 35/85 and it honestly looks all the same. Think I will spice it up little with this combo. Thank you for your videos, I could watch them all day!

I think the best lens trio is 24, 50 and 135, with the latter only coming out rarely - so I'm very similar to this. My weird lil set-up is a D750 with the Sigma 50mm ART, an old Sony a7 II with the Samyang 24mm 1.8 and an a6000 with the Sony 85mm 1.8. Far from perfect, but I'll have to wait until I can make money from photography to upgrade the set, and I'll stick to that three cameras, three lenses philosophy so as to avoid purchasing unnecessary amounts of gear.

I’m glad that you’re back to this combo! Really really like your 24mm style! I also finally figured it out that I always prefer my 24GM + 50GM 1.2 combo. As you said, if only one camera + one lens, then 35mm, but if combo of two, then 24/50. Also I tried so many times to love the 85mm, but somehow always want to switch it to the 50. I like to look at the photos from 85, but it’s not my focal length to shoot with

Interesting. Do you shoot the whole wedding with just the 24 and 50? What about the ceremony?
@SamandSteve11 ай бұрын
Always my preference as well. 24 GM and 50mm F1.2 90% of the time unless I am really far from the couple during the ceremony. Samantha is always 24-70GM2 on an A9.
@jamiechildsphotography11 ай бұрын
Hey Chris, I do hybrid coverage as well, and I'd love to know if you use dedicated cameras locked off on the sides of a ceremony or you're just shooting hybrid with the two cameras you have on you.

Yeah I usually have 2 on tripods for ceremony and speeches and then roaming footage

Sweet. I got started with weddings only this year, but already I’m sick and tired of 85mm because to me it feels like I can be lazy with it. I guess I also don’t like the compressed look that much. 35mm is really comfortable for me for a lot of parts of the wedding day, but 24mm is what challenges me a bit more, and I really love that. Without your videos about how you use 24mm I wouldn’t even have considered it for anything but wide establishing shots of venues (or really, really tight spaces), you know, much like in typical architecture photography. And even though 24mm is harder to compose with, I’ve been really digging it. Plus, the f/1.4 GM is just such an AWESOME lens.

I also use 24mm and 50mm and i love it. Only sometimes a throw in a 70-200 or 35-150. Looking forward to your video about the 35-150.

Rocking the 24gm + Sigma 85 on majority of the wedding day. The 70-200 sometimes comes out with bigger ceremonies. For some reason, I can't compose with the 50mm haha

Would the 28mm f2 work similarly well as a budget option? Also which 50mm would be recommended when one has a pretty low budget?

I have the same. Sometimes you might think 35 is nicer to look at, or 55 is lighter, but there ist NO other combination for all weddings and all brands :)

I use 35 still if I’m just doing one camera one lens for an engagement shoot or something.
@MattFitzgerald11 ай бұрын
Welcome back to the truth LOL. There will always be a love affair with the 35mm focal length because it's so natural and easy to use, but there is something far more intentional about the 28/50 combo. The right lenses for the right shots, rather than one that does both situations decently well.

@@ChrisTurnerPhotographerHi Chris ! I’m not new to photography but I’d love your opinion and your followers too. I’d like to start shooting weddings, I currently use a Nikon D800 and a DX body as back up. I wish to move over to mirrorless due to current funds the A6400 would be the best I could afford with a lens or two. Would you recommend the switch or stick with what I have for now ? Many thanks The camera bodies and lenses you and other amazing photographers use seem so far out of my reach right now it’s a little depressing 😂
@rickbiessman608411 ай бұрын
@@scottwesterman221Do you want to shoot with just one body and a zoom lens or do you want to go with two bodies as soon as you can? The a6400 is a good camera, no doubt. I personally would be a bit hesitant for weddings though for one simple reason: shooting in AF-C (which is more accurate and actually faster as well) it’s a little cumbersome to change focus points. A joystick takes care of that, but the a6XXX cameras don’t have one. On my A7C, which doesn’t have a joystick either, I can engage subject tracking with the AF-ON button and then reframe. Like "Focus & recompose" on a DSLR, just way better. =) I’m not sure if that works on the a6400. It do know it doesn’t on the a6300, which I have. While full frame IS better, low light performance differs by only one stop. But you could build your lens collection with fullframe lenses, which would make it much easier to switch to full frame should you ever want to. But then again, APS-C is no slouch and the Sigma prime lenses are a really nice option. Or actually the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, though I will say that even on fullframe I find f/2.8 a bit underwhelming, let alone on APS-C. Just my opinion though. =)
