I've always wanted to go chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda, so when I finally got my chance to join my good mate, Simon Espley of Ukuri, I couldn't say no. In fact, I was asked to make this short video to highlight not only the chimp trekking, but also all the other awesome activities in Nyungwe National Park, along with its beauty, biodiversity and community projects.
I really enjoyed the bird watching in Nyungwe National Park, especially in the company of our exceptional guide, Claver, who helped me spot plenty of forest specials. We walked over the 70 meter high canopy walkway on the Igishigishigi Trail and also trekked a troop of over 500 black and white colobus monkeys. One morning, while out bird watching, a wild troop of chimpanzees actually appeared from nowhere and screamed loudly all around us. It's an experience I'll never forget!
As I'm busy typing this, African Parks are in the process of building a new little camp in the heart of Nyungwe, so keep an eye out on its development by following the Ukuri link I've added at the top of this description.
