Great podcast as always, can't wait for the new season and all the new ideas (btw. sound quality improved a lot from the beginning of this season - well done). To all the listeners - go sponsor both of these patreons, it's the most rewarding thing to know that you played a small part of all of their amazing stories. On a topic of wildlife photography from the boat, it's not an easy thing and I admire everyone who brings any of the big prime lenses. I found it impossible to use any support comfortably on a boat. I recently did a trip to Mexico and I had two boat trips there both cases it was just me, my partner and our guide but I find it very uncomfortable to move on a boat. Also in our case there was a lot of up and down movement so hand holding was helping to tackle this movement. In my case, the old DSLR Sigma 150-600 did the magic, but I think that 100-500 RF would be even more convenient because of weight and close focus capability. Now I want to go to Brazil 😂 thanks a lot 😂😂😂 Thank you for the podcast, you are doing a great job here.

You must be horrible Safari Expert because I have seen almost 80% Tiger reserve in India. Safari driver & guide are very corrupt and don't follow route allotted. They will put efforts if they have any hope of tips. Please visit MP and all booking is online and Driver / guide are actually know about jungle and put efforts to show Tiger. Don't missguide people. Try MP Tiger reserve and you will forget Ranthamore. It's close to my city Gurgaon. But I drive 2 to 3 time to 1000 km to see tiger to MP.

I switched from the Sony A7RV and Sony 200-600 to the Canon R5 and Canon RF 100-500. I found that the 200-600 was so big and heavy I rarely wanted to take it out with me and had to use my larger backpacks, whereas the Canon 100-500 is much easier to always have with me and more versatile than the 200-600.
@neelagopi10 күн бұрын
Comparison with 100-400GM might be more appropriate (given the price). Guess GM would be better in all except one, zoom range (missing 400-500mm). It possibly has bigger aperture at longer end 5.6 vs 7.1 (Not sure what is max aperture at 400mm for Canon 100-500). Similar MFD, and weight, 100mm at wide-end. GM build quality even better than G lens (200-600), so probably better than Canon one. This lens is very popular among wildlife/safari folks.

Excellent video presentation Villiers .. loved it ! I was there a week before you arrived . I spent a month in Mana during your stay . Nice to have met you ! The trees you mentioned “ Anna trees “ , slight correction there , they are actually Acacia Albida (Faidherbia Albida) trees . I am a wildlife photographer and have photographed Mana for many years now , it never disappoints , the dry period of Mana yes is my favourite time to photograph there from August till November ! Sad they are experiencing yet another drought . 2019 was the last one when all the pools dried up . Stay well ! Ross Sayers Photography!

@@TheSafariExpert it is totally my loss, how do I overcome listening to noise that doesn't fit with a wonderful wildlife video. I am sure there are loads of people who love it. Which is great, at least you know why I started to watch and gave up.
@TheSafariExpert12 күн бұрын
@, I do get it. I really do. My wife and I watch the videos from start to finish twice before I post it and often I have to remove or reduce the music… What many people don’t realise, is that it doesn’t always sound better without it. You see, each clip has its own ambient sounds, and although it might sound nice for a few seconds, it might sound a bit jarring in sequence… Adding music is the single best way to make it flow. And on top of that, it does create a certain mood as well. I urge you to watch the whole video again, just because you might actually enjoy some of the wonderful sightings and scenes later in the video 🙏🏻🙂
@MarkDumbleton12 күн бұрын
I found the music very relevant to the footage, it helps the video become more cohesive, effective in storytelling and I really enjoy that. Sometimes ambient sounds are great, but sometimes music is great too. Also, it’s very difficult to get footage with 100% natural sounds because there always seems to be vehicle noises in the distance or people speaking. And if one includes all of those man made noises in a video, the natural ambiance is lost. I love how you put the video together Villiers!
