Hi - Firstly glad to see you posting videos again. Really missed them the last few months ❤. Always wanted to go on a flight over the North East coast from Sunderland to Blyth. I love living in the North East. Looking.forward to the next history vid. 👍

Well done you! What an adventure. 40 years ago, when Usworth airfield still existed, I started my flying journey with Sunderland Flying Club. I can recall a flight over the coast, then back to the airfield, seeing the Tyne on my right and the Wear on my left. Another time doing circuit practise, turning base leg over the Alexandra Bridge. Amazing views over my home country I'd never seen before. Later, I moved to Kent, and after getting my private flying licence, started flying Tiger Moths with the Tiger Club, then based at Headcorn. I felt priveleged to learn and fly in the same airspace as those desperate battles were fought so long ago. Tigers are loud, aren't they?!

Oh wow, the North East must have looked so different from above when you were completing your flying training to today! The tiger moth was really loud but like you I felt privileged just to be able to be up in the air just like those pilots of yesterday!

Since you like old aeroplanes Katherine , how about a tour of Sunderland Air and transport museum near the Nissan works at Washington ( which itself is built on the old RAF fighter station RAF Usworth ) on the other side of the A19 opposite Hylton Castle . I've been around the museum a few times and its full of old planes , buses etc, many of the buses from the North East . An RAF Vulcan takes pride of place and it flew its last flight in 1983 , landing at RAF Usworth, renamed by then as the short lived Sunderland Airport . It even has a row of replica shops from the war . I've got no connection with the museum myself , only as a vistor , but it might make an interesting video and I'm sure the museum would welcome publicity .

Wow! What a fantastic experience. The nearest I've come to a Tiger Moth is building an Airfix kit. 😁 So different from a modern airliner cockpit with all the computer screens they have these days. Glad to see you back posting. 👍

It's definitely different to flying in a modern plane, curiously I didn't get that ear pop sensation due to how gentle the ascent and descent was! Thank you, I've been adjusting to a new job so hopefully I'll be regularly posting again 😊
