Have you ever been island hopping? If so where? I'll go first- I have gone in the Canary Islands, Portugal and now in Washington too.

Too many people around those islands. Glad I am in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Idaho. Oh, and I graduated from Friday Harbor High School in 1963, and lived on the Island for 25 years, having gone from FH up the Inside Passage many times to Alaska.

@@PatrickThreewit oh I bet heading up to Alaska from there is incredible and you moved from one beautiful place to another. Lucky you.

@@AliceFordAdventures When I was 12, living on the Island, my brother 18 years my senior had a 44-foot wooden fishing boat built at Jensen's Shipyard in Friday Harbor. On the day it went into the water, my brother surprised me when he asked me to break the Champagne bottle on the bow and name it with my name. But I had to wait until I was 17 to go north because my parents thought it too dangerous. My parents and I and a cousin and our dog took the AlCan highway to Alaska on a road with 1500 miles of gravel. We stopped in Seward, Alaska, boarded that boat I named and spend the next three short summers fishing for salmopn in Prince William Sound. The next 4 seasons after that one was spent in the fjord strewn southeast Alaska region. Over 7 seasons I went to Alaska by car, airplane and boat. I'd come home to living on the west side of San Juan Island, where I would get ready to go to college. A fun life since leaving Southern California in 1953.

Interesting video Alice. The San Juan Islands are a perfect romantic getaway. Not much to do in terms of hardcore adventures but great for light activities while Island hopping, to relax and enjoy each other's company. It is peaceful and that always brought me back over there, on Salt Spring Island actually, which is an extension of the San Juan's but in a different country. Locals are open minded, artistic and they know how to slow down the paste of life to a comfortable level and where it should stand.
