Ah, so nice to see you backpacking again! These are the best videos. The one you did for Longs Peak a few years back was one of my favorite! Maybe one day I’ll backpack Yosemite. I lived in the Bay Area for a year but never went to Yosemite because how crowded it was. Now that I see this video, I kinda want to visit it now considering how empty the backcountry is.

Ah, thank you and yes that’s the great thing about the back country in most of our National Parks. Places the crowds can’t access.

Exciting, exhilarating, and exhausting episode! I’ve never seen the approach to Half Dome from the Tioga Road. What an ambitious trek … especially coming up from LA without altitude acclimation. To climb the overlook and to the campground was enough to make an interesting experience. Then to ascend the Dome, pose for some harrowing shots, return to camp, and THEN hike out to your car was mind blowing. I was gripping my seat and felt depleted. On top of it all, you drove over 2 hours, in the dark, to Mammoth. Amazing!

Daniel, Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment. It was a tough 2 days that’s for sure. Glad I could showcase half dome in a different way than most :)

@@AliceFordAdventuresIt's been many years since I was In Yosemite. Did you drive up the 395? I think you can also go up the 99 I think And the night drive to mammoth reminds me of a trip me and some friends took to lake Tahoe for a skiing trip. We got into bishop and it was dark . We kept driving thru mammoth and the mountains until we got into east lake Tahoe! That's a scary night drive . I don't think people realize how dark roads are without street lights.

Love watching your videos and just filmed this one myself a couple of weeks ago but unfortunately chose not to climb Half Dome because Yosemite Valley became socked in with regional smoke. Thanks for showing what THAT experience would have been like! I'll try this again later this year or next year.

Great video Alice! I just did the Half Dome Cable hike a few days ago, and it was nice to relive it again....without doing it😊 I was on the trail at 3am so I could summit before storms typically roll in. I brought 5 liters of water, but ran out with a couple miles to go. That was a long and rough time and I was soooo thirsty. NOW I have a water filter, to avoid this experience going forward. Safe travels! PS.....though it's not a cold plunge I prefer, I spent some time in the cool water too, to help heal my some!

Great video of Yosemite. I drove through years ago while in the area for a job interview in San Francisco. The view from the Half Dome summit was an awesome shot, the one that you were arms in the air as a triumph conquering the top and standing on the ledge. Nothing feels better after a long hike with a full pack on than to rest and soak both feet into cold water for a little while. Backpacking is like hard work I wouldn't do for a living. It is not that easy and it takes 2-3 trips early season to get some muscles in shape, that we do not use that often. As always, thanks for sharing Alice 🇨🇦 ⛺️ 🇺🇸

What amazes me , other than your long hike and summit. Congrats thats a huge accomplishment. But half dome was free soloed by Alex Honnold. I have real fears of heghts and even with ropes no thanks. But my favorite mountain is K2. Something about it is spiritual yet savage. Cheers from Orange County, Buena Park. I would like to compliment you and say the views are breathtaking in your videos. You are both courageous and open to new exoeriences. Often times,nowadays in US people see accidents on TV and let their fears overtake them and not only fail to explore but project these fears and behavior on their kids A good example is the dad who lost his daughter in the tragic accident on Half Dome. He did a TV interview and was saying he was hoping to make Hakf Dome safer. Maybe its an american thing but this preoccupation with trying to make everything "safe" is neither fruitful or productive. The part that I have a hard time understanding is these many of these same people claim to be Christians and if you're Christian or even if you're just somewhat religious, I would think dying and going to heaven would be a good thing. I mean, not that you want to go there, but certainly you're not afraid to go there. It's supposed to be this awesome place, so that's what I'm having a hard time reconciling. Is this preoccupation with preventing death but at the same time espousing it?
@davesanders92033 ай бұрын
Did you watch the whole video of Alex "doing his thing"? There's a part there where he's on a horizontal ledge and can't see the next "grip"! So he just leaves his body to "take a peak" at where the grip is! PS: It's really hard for us "normal" people to "just watch"!

awesome!!, after watching your channel for some time now, i have noticed that you have done angles landing/ longs peak, and now half dome!! which one was the hardest or scarest!!, if had to guess, i would say longs peak. you sure to get around a lot, and you know your way in da woods. that was an awesome trip for you. i don't think i will be doing half dome if i go. i bike a lot and stay in shape, but the other folks on the trail would bother me. i was a grunt soilder and had to stay in da woods all the time. Weeks at a time. I consider you a professional traverler. thakns for sharing.

Thanks Prince, Longs Peak was the hardest and scariest although Angels Landing was definitely scary but not physically too hard.

AllTrails is very trail specific and since I wasn’t doing a AllTrails route I wouldn’t have been able to know where I was. I like natural apps for places in which I’m through hiking but it’s only available in the US so far.
