U r doing a great job, keep it up I love it. I would like to reassure you that the 10 Dollars they asked for is cheaper for a stadium tour. It is a universal practice even here to get into Man U’ stadium one still has to pay even if the game is not on. It is expensive than going to watch the game because you will have access to different corners of the stadium: trophy cabinet, players charging rooms, laundry, T-shirt’ shop, manager’s office etc which you wouldn’t access when going in for the game alone. Thanks.

Why you were treated differently at the stadium is because you look different. Whenever you visit an African country, the first thing to do is observe the women of that country and try to fit in as them (do their common hairstyles and dress like them) and talk less. In that way, no one will pay special attention to you. Good luck

@@jon_s I find your comment derogatory and discriminatory. I'm an African of Bantu descent, as a matter of fact my ancestors migrated from the Congo basin to Nigeria so here (Congo Kinshasa) is my home and I look no different from them except that we speak different languages. So no, I wasn't treated differently because I looked/look different. Your comment is ridiculous

Hello lady. I can see you're still smiling. Your country has the largest GDP in Africa. DRC is is a very big country with massive natural resources but the economy has not done as well largely because of historical reasons. I'm sure you're comparing and contrasting. I know DRC is raising from the ashes of the sad past. The potential is huge and the people look resilient. I know you join me in praying for peace, good governance and prosperity in DRC and the rest of Africa. Keep on exploring .Continue being positive too!

You just won a new sub here (Congolese living in Belgium). I really enjoyed the adventure, it was so funny and informative. Love that advice about taking steps, that's universal and very true, I've experienced it myself on different occasions, at different places. To come back to that 10$ at the stadium all I can say is that you can negotiate almost anything in Kinshasa, and like in many places people will always try to take advantage once they know you're not from there. Last time I was in Kinshasa (August 2019) I stopped a taxi, the driver literally looked at me from head to toes then asked me 10 dollars for a trip that cost 4000 Congolese francs (2$). He could smell that I was a diasporan. I ended up giving him 6000 Congolese francs. Funny is that I wasn't even dressed flashy (T-shirt, cargo short and sneakers). I wish a pleasant stay in Kinshasabut please be careful with your device when vlogging : don't know how it is in Lagos but pick-pockets are very fast when it comes to phones. Even when you're inside a car windows down. Last week a girlfriend from France got her 12 pro max robbed while talking on the phone, that was on the boulevard du 30 Juin. She's already back in Paris. That happens everywhere, my country is no exception. Last but not least : a big THANK YOU for showing the DRC to the world.

Wonderful work Grace. My advice is that before carrying out such a task in a foreign country, try to immerse yourself into the country's history. It helps a lot

Thanks John, merci. Dear, were you filming before you approached them. It's the same way some folks get jittery when you start filming their business in Nigeria. Knowing you are a foreigner probably led to the 10dollar sum. Such a good opportunity missed to showcase the beautiful stadium. Still we muveeeee🤣 Glad you were still able to make something out of your outing

Grace, most stadiums in the world are considered as touristic places during the off-season. Two years ago, I went to visit the Arsenal Emirates Stadium in London, I paid £35 for an hour tour. And if you want to speak to some Arsenal legends during the tour, it's called VIP Legend Experience tour, you have to pay £295.

I asked about the practice in Kinshasa, it is the norm to pay to enter the Kinshasa stadium
@imhotepmk8090
@imhotepmk8090 3 жыл бұрын
@@africanstoryteller It is quite common to be asked for money by the guards at the gate but it is not the norm. It happened to me as well even though I am a Congolese.

Asking me for money as a kind gesture is understandable but not as a condition for accessing the stadium when it is not the norm.

@@africanstoryteller I think they were expecting you to give them whatever you had as a kind gesture to gain access. Again, it is not the norm but that's how it works from time to time with guards in Africa.

Hello Virtue Grace, I am Congolese myself and I wanted to comment about Stade de Martyr video. If there is no activity in the stadium, the Police will not let in unless you give them something. So, do not be disappointed, this is Africa. Bribe is part of part of how Africans survive. So, you and African Tigress have a good time in the DR Congo.
