I had the amazing opportunity to skip school and watch the first launch of SpaceX's Falcon Heavy Rocket. This test flight put Elon Musk's personal Tesla Roadster into an orbit around Mars and proved that a rocket of this size was feasible. Not only was this rocket more than double the power of the next biggest rocket, its also only 1/3 of the price.
Thank you so much for watching this video! If you would like to suggest a video idea please leave it in the comments, and if you enjoyed please like and subscribe! It was my pleasure to add a bit of science to your day!

You are so lucky man! I saw it from the stream and that left me speechless, I have no idea how you must have felt! Thank you for making this video! Can your next one be on how they fueled all those rockets, please?

Great video. I'd love to see a video on how a rocket engine works.

Actually, if you can do a video on how the general principle on how they balance and control these multiple engine boosters to be able to land would be great!

I watched it from the small dock across from Dog’s r Us on Washington Ave in Titusville, it looks like you were either on the Max Brewer Bridge or on the way to Playa Linda Beach on the access road

Do you know if the Tesla has any cameras or instruments on it sending back data? I remember seeing a shuttle launch at the cape when I was a little kid (on vacation at the beach) it was pretty cool!

Spaceman isn't goint to orbit around Mars as said in description, it's going in orbit around Sun with apoapsis somewhere between Mars and asteroid belt.

Where were you watching it from?

Great video! Is it better to watch it live or in the stream? Because if you watch it live the rocket is very far and you miss a lot of things and don't see others as good (For example, the landing) as in the stream.

Well of course you will be more informed by watching the livestream, but seeing it in person is way better. You are around all sorts of their excited people and you actually and to see and more importantly hear everything as it happens.

Thanks for answering, I guess it's one of those things you need to experience to understand. One more question though, why is everyone so far from the launch? I get that it could be dangerous, but does it need to be so far?
@ScienceC
@ScienceC 7 жыл бұрын
Well the main issue is there was a very limited amount of tickets to watch on Kennedy space center. So I was basically the second closest you could be without being on KSS. The press sites and and beach is only about 3 miles, but of course it’s hard to go to those places.

the thumbnail and start of video made it look like you were in a boat off-shore, I went 'wtf' initially because I know they monitor downrange for aircraft/boats and stop the launch if there's anyone in the danger areas unauthorized.

Yeah there were tons of helicopters patrolling the area

What is that map behind you? Why is Asia, Africa and Sweden covered by sea? Cool channel btw. One day you'll be reviewing MY rockets.

do you know Elon Musk's raison d'etre? and that although he used to directly mention it.. 'at the slightest drop of a hat'..... beginning with his talk in Mexico he watered it down.... and then subsequently cannot even mention it at all.... because he was becoming an American celebrity.... with emphasis on the American part. don't forget that either.
