The story behind is pretty funny, it was the first advertising job of the advertising agency Kessels Kramer, the owner of the hotel asked them to make advertising in newspapers etc because no one wanted to go in this hotel any more and every customers where saying that it was the worst hotel in the world. So that's pretty much how the cheap campaign started, this advertising campaign worked so well that it became famous and peoples came there because it was the "worst" hotel. Now they made lot of money and the hotel isn't the worst anymore. But the advertisings are really genius, you should have a look at it.

Hey Peter, there is a notorious restaurant we have here in Britain called the Palace restaurant. In London, just a stones throw away from Buckingham Palace. It has been officially recognised as the worst reviewed restaurant in the city and possibly the country. I have been there myself and I can see why. Overpriced and very mediocre food, dirty interior, a bathroom I wouldn’t feel safe using and the owners are another thing. They shout and scream at customers, refused to give out tapwater, which is illegal here in Britain. If they catch you filming, they will throw you out and have even been violent. When I went myself, just to see if it’s really that bad. This woman came out and screamed at me for taking too long, looking at the menu outside.
@taneli2288 Жыл бұрын
This is kind of funny considering that in Finland where I live there is also a restaurant called Palace, however that has 2 michelin stars and is considered widely to be the best restaurant in the country 😄

I was in this hostel in May! I was on my way back from Australia to UK, with 24h layover in China, I barely slept for 60 hours and when I got there rude receptionist said I can’t stay there as the hostel is for people up to 35yo (I’m 41) even though I booked the bed months in advance and there was no information about such rule where I booked it. Finely the girl said that ‘she can’t be bothered to to do the cancellation and refund’ so I was allowed to stay ‘this time’. The room was overpriced, full of part animals and staff was rude so the promotion campaign was actually on point.

As a LOCAL please read this The days of party, drugs and hookers are long gone. Sure, there are clubs and endless opportunities for shit, but the expectations are too high. Most clubs and bars are near enpty on weekdays. The so called hot spots Leidsesquare and Rembrandt square are tourist traps mostly. (bar coco's outback at Rembrandt is a good bar to get wasted). The stag and hen do's are much less than before because of high prices. The prostitutes are providing mostly poor service. Many windows have closed and in sone there are art or fashion exhibitions. All in all a lot of gentrification. Is it all bad? No. But manage expectations. If you want more than drugs and hookers the city is great. Prague was the follow up city to Amsterdam on the level of hookers and party but also Prague is losing it for the same reasons. Just want to smoke weed and chill? Many coffee shops (not Starbucks..) and you will be sorted. Like concerts? Your favorite artist will play one of the nicest venues ever (Paradiso and to a lesser extend Melkweg). Want the real seedy hooker experience? Go to the Ruhrgebiet in Germany. Stag or Hen do? Dont waste your money on Amsterdam, how much I like short dressed easy to pickup Britt girls. For the typical 'Backpacker' Amsterdam is great. Also for single travellers.

@@erzsebetkovacs2527 Prices of accomodation, drinks and admission fees. There are still nice clubs but you really have to do your research or ask locals. They are not in the Rebrandtsquare. For example around Java Plein or Marie Heineken plein to name a few

We had this initiative in Poland, by one of the Polish youtuber's to open up the worst restaurant and the best/worst hotel - it was done by OjWojtek and it's still available to see on yt. It was like a one-time concept, but it was so great to watch, when you're just getting offended just because, and people were like still giving tips for it. It was taken from the concept of the US franchise "Dicks", where they're doing this basically every day. And it was like a part of the bigger initiative, from raising 1 PLN to buy a car for one of subscribers. Officially, it ended with buying an almost brand new car, for the guy, who was trying to get to Polish Paralympics' team. So either I would like to see you to visit that place in US, or maybe you can try to do that in Czechia too for any charity event. Should be a lot of fun :) Ps. How is was done in PL - they basically made a collab with one restaurant for one day, and for the hotel, it was in a place, that anyone could win and live in. And it worked. Link for the restaurant video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHqqfpmVgbmVf7c
