That string at 9:59 , in Italy, it's usually an "alarm" thing that a person having an emergency (usually medical) can use to signal the problem to the other living there and hopefully call for the help . In older houses ( or ones with old people) you can still find them. But I think the ones you found have not been connected at all.

RIP Vlad. Peter was probably not paying him anything and he died of hunger and malnutrition. He did mention being hungry in one previous episode. I also wonder whether Peter actually suffered from mosquito bites instead of simply plugging in mosquito killer. Whenever I go I always bring one with me. Mosquitos can invade any hotel room. All it takes is one to fck up your sleep.

The “string” is something very comune in old house’s, it’s there in case you have an accident and you need to call someone, usually for elders or because you need the toilet paper 😂

There is one hotel like this in Ottawa, Canada. You can see the prisoners names on the door 😂 You can even stay in a room like a dungeon. Great video as always Peter :) Edit: the hotel I am talking about is an actual jail from 1862 and it is in a way better condition than this hotel in the video.

The unidentified metal is most likely something that's attached on a wall in the room next to you, where the metal comes from, they probably drilled the wall to attach something and the wall was too thin so they went through accidently all the way into your room, so they put a bolt and the that circle thing that goes on the bolt to make it firm, instead of the standard screw, so they decided to use that because they screwed up obviously haha! That means your walls were paper thin :D One fart and you wake up the person in the next room :D

I think it's an anchor for scaffolding, they must have done some restoration on the external facade and haven't removed the anchor from the wall, or the scaffolding is still up. Or it is used for some type of safety of the structure. Ps. Since this is an older building, the walls are thicker, not as thin as you think (this is not America where the walls are made of plasterboard, here the walls are stone)
