Who's going to break a pay it forward chain in the drive through line? Me, all day long. No question about it, I will never participate.
I pulled into Starbucks with my son and I was told that our drinks were paid for by the car behind me. I said, "Oh cool," and I took my stuff and I left.
My son goes, "You were supposed to pay for the car behind us." I said to him, "Listen, buddy, I had two options. One, I could feel guilty for cutting this chain short, or two, I could feel like a sucker for keeping it going. Only one of those options is free."
The people ahead of me weren't being kind. They were put under obligation by the person ahead of them and they're passing it on. I didn't want this. It is always worth $8 to me to not feel any more guilt than I already do.
I came here for a latte and a mediocre frozen sandwich, not a moral quandary and a side of shame.

I was so ready to rip him a new one, but you know what I agree with him. You shouldn't have to feel obligated to pay for the person behind you just because a chain started.

I heard another great explanation on why they broke it. They said "If you're in line at Starbucks you aren't in need as much as the homeless person on the corner. I'm going to help people that need the help more."

Last time I hit a Pay it Forward drive thru scenario I gave the money I had for my food to the cashier as a tip. First, because people hardly ever tip fast food workers. Second, because I imagine the cashiers are sick of asking if people want to pay for the people behind them.

We’re sick of having to explain that the order is paid to the bewildered person at the window lol I never ask them if they want to keep it going. I let them ask. But I’m certain most of them feel obligated to keep it going. I tell them not to feel that way. Just take the W and go lol

I don’t see why out of the kindness of someone’s heart they can just pay for someone’s meal, and that be the end of it. There’s no reason for a chain. at least not be on the fact to remind you that sometimes you should just reach out and help someone for no reason. but if you’re obligated meh

Your clip just appeared on my recommendations. Another customer at a Bojangles almost got swindled. A young man who had just got out of work pulled up and ordered 3 biscuits. The drive-thru employee asked if he wanted to pay for the car behind him, a total of $45 - yikes!! He politely declined and now some social media jerks are making him out to be cheap or greedy for refusing to pay some strangers $45 meal. I'm glad he stood his ground. Takes courage to say "no, thanks" and keep it moving. Charity is a *choice* not an obligation. Y'all take care of your money because no one else will! Happy 2023 🥳 🎊

A lady in front of me once paid for my drink bcz she was holding up a line since she was being very chitchatty with the cashier after she got all her drinks, a total of 8 minutes that she held the line for…..I wasn’t annoyed about waiting but I guess she felt bad after she realized the long line behind her.

Pay it forward should only be at coffee places and you should always ask how much the next persons order it. Don’t pay it forward, if your order is $3 and the car behind you is $56

I was in one of these at McDonalds and asked what the cost of the order behind me was. It was under $3.00 so I was okay with it. The total may have even been under $2.00. Had the total been more than a dollar or two more than I would have payed, I would've declined continuing the trend.

Payin it forward with a drive thru heart attack is not a favor or a good deed. If someone wants to be a good person and they think money is how you do it then go pay for a homeless person to have a place to live. Being a good person is simply that.

It's the same as a person (stranger/friend/family) does something to help you out (you thinking that it was an honest gesture), and then comes by at some other time (when they need help) and then declaring to you that you "owe them a favor". Nothing was discussed, therefore nothing is owed. Kindness is to be genuine, and certainly never forced. Being guilted into kindness just leaves your accusers holding the real guiltbag in the end.

There are other ways to pay it forward. So someone pays for your coffee? Go out of your way to do something nice for someone else, it doesnt have to be about money. It could be something free and simple. Compliment someone, something like that. Starbuck chains are too expensive to keep going, especially wjen youre just going for 1 coffee

Wrong, it's a good lesson for the son. Why teach your children that it's good to be extorted by companies for your hard-earned money. Good for the people who want to participate, but if you didn't ask to participate, then you shouldn't have to. That son will be the one walking away, spending $8 for coffee, while your kids are stuck paying $50 for someone else's meal, on top of theirs because of.... good karma? So the lesson he should learn is good karma comes to those who can't say no?
@JediWebSurf

@@jdjacobo3594 it's a good lesson if the son understands it. If he's too little to understand then that's different. You can't explain it to him or use a different reason.

Saying youll never participate is low and selfish. I understand not everyone csn afford a more expensive order but if you nust take in this life and dont gice back then you are a terrible person and father teaching your son to be a narcissistic person. The amount of selfish people under this video is ridiculous. It's not cool to be a selfish person.
