The trade war is one of the worse choices, but it gives you a pretty amazing interaction if you lose it. KIM KITSURAGI - "I hope you learned your lesson," the lieutenant says with a sharp smile. YOU - "Yeah, never get involved in a trade war in Insulinde." KIM KITSURAGI - "Never fuck with Kim Kitsuragi."

I love the change of the thumbnails with Brady presenting himself as his professional self, and slowly going deranged as the series goes on. I love that he's having fun with the progression of the series.

Sadly, that's because he's slowly adopting Harry's mindset. It took some of us months to shake off those terrible electrochemistry thoughts.

3:51 - Way back when, playing the first Europa Universalis game (basically Suzerainty for PC), I was playing France and started colonizing North America. The First Nations peoples were constantly revolting against me. I couldn't make them happy enough to stop, but the game included what was more or less a "genocide" button on each territory that let you wipe out the local population. Between that and forced assimilation via missionaries, everything became "peaceful". After a brief feeling of "Aha! Victory!", I was like, "Oooooh. Oh nooooo...."

This episode was so great. Missed you, Brady! I agree 100% with your life lessons at the end there. If you can’t enjoy what you’re doing at the time, enjoying who you’re with & enjoying the moment, to me, it’s not worth it. Trophies, at the end of the day, just sit on a shelf & collect dust. Wins & losses are eventually forgotten. But, those memories with family & friends, they’re the things that to hold on to. Those are the ones that really stick out in my mind. Win or lose, the experiences in life are only as cool as the people you get to share them with!

Each time I played the game (two times I think) I was helping the workers and got negative points for that. Then I said to Kim that I wasn't trying to win, I just wanted to be a good ruler, and he said that it's 'strangely admirable' or something like that :p

My favorite outcome is the one where you present just enough of a challenge to almost win and Kim gives you a huge grin when you pout about it.

@QSBraWQКүн бұрын
By the way, [Spoiler Alert for other outcomes of this board game] This was the only way to win in that board game. Other options are either loosing by going into different directions. Or investing in your workers the whole game, setting you for negative victory points, but making an actual good place to live, making Kim happy with that outcome

As a massive board game nerd I love this section of the game. It's such a love-letter to colonially-themed historical eurogames. There are so many good "game about games" section in this game, and everyone knows about the radio MMO, but this one stands out for me. Also; cocaine being "the purple stuff" in this universe is such a weird little worldbuilding quirk.

When the only options for gamers in this setting are Settlers of Catan and computer wurms (which I assume are like filament DOS games), it's no wonder a bunch of people went broke trying to make an MMORPG in a world that doesn't have internet

Omg.. I love the note you ended that interaction with. I have this problem where I can't help but be overly competitive in games n such thus winning became the only good experience. I soon began disliking games because I would either feel bad or make others feel bad. This made me rethink my perspective on it, so I sincerely thank you for this thought option! Haha

This episode was such a treat, and I really like how you described the feeling of emptyness you felt when Kim lost to Harry. Jokes aside, I was much happier when Harry lost to Kim in the game, cause the outcome was counterintuitively more satisfying than winning

What a nice way to start the year! It's funny, I didn't have this experience of emptiness at all! It really is all about attitude, huh?

You’re probably done with the game already so I just wanna say thank you for playing this amazing game and I’m looking forward to your thoughts when they’re released! I’ve enjoyed this play through so much and it was one of the few things that I looked forward to everyday. It brought me to your channel and I’ve loved every bit of your content I’ve watched! I’ve always advocated to play more and do every single thing so it’s great to watch you do your best to not miss anything! Your perspective is truly amazing as well. Sure people get the text and subtext but you’re a therapist trained in psychology who gets it.

Around the 33:00 mark, I also hear the "patronizing tone" that Authority mentions. While I think Kim was being genuine when he said that the only things that count in real life are your actions and subsequent consequences, prior to that, I do think he was being sarcastic. "you'll earn some points soon enough" with the actor's line delivery sounded patronizing. After all, Kim IS trying to win the game and enjoys competition at times.

If you double and triple down on doing good for your population, Kim wins but is kinda impressed with you and the dialogue is probably the most satisfying (the one where you do a trade war and lose is also hilarious). Some occasions are worth reloading an autosave just to see the different outcomes. Skipping through the previous actions you've already seen is fast.

Yayyyyy i'm so happy another episode came out :] Also do you plan on passing the check where you ask the smoker in the purple shirt "what makes him different"? Please for the love of god just stop making these long rants about any random idea that pops into your head every time a dialogue starts. 12+ minutes for propinquity? If the dialogue isn't moving for more than a couple of minutes you're doing something wrong, just save the thought and put the rant in a separate video about psychology if you want. It's called a "let's play", not "my random never-ending rants while I sit on the same dialogue line". I love the playthrough and I've been here from the start but the lectures gotten really old for me about 10-15 eps ago. Even though I did find a lot of them interesting, they conflict with my desire as a viewer for you to actually _progress_ and experience the game, which makes for a frustrating viewing. Now I just skip them.

@valenxizaw245Күн бұрын
You must be new here I think this guy is just not for you. Pretty much the mayority of us are here to listen to his long rants about psychology that are prompted from whatever videogame he's currently playing. Also telling a stranger youtuber that their current way of doing videos is "wrong" and how they should change in order to satisfy YOU and YOU specifically.. comes off as very rude
@peasant-trip23 сағат бұрын
@valenxizaw245 I've been following the channel from the first episode of DE, back when he was still streaming. I agree my comment was phrased in a rude way and should've been written better, of course he's free to do whatever he wants. Still my point stands - my enjoyment (however worthless anyone might deem that to be) of the content has been severely diminished by these interruptions. Propinquity is an interesting concept that is not that hard to explain - people grow to like whomever they spend time with because they get to know each other. That's mostly it. The first couple of minutes of that rant were a great expansion on the topic (about opportunities to show and act on your values), the next ten could've easily been left on the editing floor.
