I really love the idea of link and hylia having it out for each other while still pretending to be friends. Hylia putting link through awful trials in the name of making him stronger when she really just wishes it was somebody other than link questioning why Farore chose him of all people. And link complete the trials and acting like it was nothing to spite her while also going off and procrastinating just to piss her off even more.

For me i loved the ending when link and zelda are falling and he successfully catches her, which mirrors him trying to catch her and failing in the beginning. The music and lighting were so epic! The only thing that I don’t like about the ending is link’s arm essentially being “cured”. It’s really common in media to essentially “cure” disabled characters and it often has negative repercussions on real disabled people. Plus, I thought rauru’s arm was super cool and there was really no reason to replace it in the end imo.

I wish we had like a mission specifically to save zelda like maybe some ancient zonai text that mineru and zelda never knew about thar says there a chance zelda could turn back normal. Maybe collecting some artifacts or even a post ganon dungeon where you need rauru's spirit to activate certain terminals to get a special secret stone that can turn Zelda back. Idk having Sonia & Rauru save zelda at the end felt like a rushed quick fix ending like yes they used links hand but it was a cutscene.
@JacquieVlogsHere3 ай бұрын
Yes!!! Literally this! I was happy to see her change back, but doing it like you suggested w a quest involved would've made it feel much more earned, considering it was supposed to be impossible. I was kinda shocked that Impa didn't give a side quest or side adventure about how to turn her back after you get the final memory, since she says she's going to "consult the ancient texts" or w/e. Maybe there originally was an idea along those lines that just never got incorporated into the final game.
@jessicaable50953 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly. As it stands, your actions during the game has no baring on the ending. Whether you explore every corner and complete every quest before the final battle, or go straight for Ganondorf after leaving the first sky island, the ending will be the same. Personally, I think the exploration of Hyrule, the completion of quests and the collection of memories are their own reward for me and sufficiently contribute to the narrative of the game and your own journey though it. BUT it would have been nice if those efforts contributed to the end of the game as well 😊

It's always so lovely to sit down to one of your videos after a hard day. Thank you for being you
@marissabulso64393 ай бұрын
My thoughts on the ending?? Dude. It may have been more impactful in the heart-shattering sense to leave Zelda a dragon, but I don’t think it would have improved the story. We needed Zelda to be returned to her true form to give us that hope and joy that the greatest stories bring. Consider, the only reason she was able to be returned to her human form was because of the bond she shares with Link. One, she sacrifices herself for Link, which is connected to her love for him. Two, Rauru and Sonia clearly channel their powers THROUGH Link, which is connected to his love for her. It’s only when he begins to focus on Zelda that their power really starts flowing through him to Zelda. Basically, the power of love is the key. And that transcendent love conquers evil and restores hope for a brighter future. (Plus, without her being returned to human form, we would never have gotten that beautiful sequence of diving to catch her. 😭) But I do understand the perspective that the story should have been left as a Great Tragedy. I personally prefer my tragedies to have redemption and hope woven into them because those are both so important to living life, but there is something in leaving a tragedy open-ended-leaving us to grapple with grief, heartache, and making us find a way to move forward through hopelessness and despair. In any case, no matter what anyone says, I think TOTK has an amazing story. No Zelda story has yet hit me quite the way this one did. That scene where Zelda swallows her secret stone, remembering all she and Link went through in BOTW, and the music swelling, and her scream overlaid with the dragon’s roar, with the TOTK theme transitioning to the final notes from Zelda’s Lullaby, and Link surrounded by the Silent Princesses….mm. I wept.

iiiii don't mean to sound rude but to say zelda sacrificed herself _for_ link...? sure she became a dragon to heal the master sword but it wasn't strictly _for_ link, it was so link could defeat ganondorf and save the world, she doesn't says ''save them all'' for nothing 😭unless i'm misinterpreting what you said!
@RaggedVentures3 ай бұрын
In regards to the ending of the game, I also privately think that tragedy would have been better but I could never honestly expect that from Nintendo. What I actually object to is that they didn't respect all the stakes they themselves set. Ruaru and Sonia show up *again,* after we've been supposed to mourn her(and he's "died" twice already between the seal and his first dissolution after the tutorial), with a _deus ex machina_ solution, and they weren't even brave enough to let Zelda be traumatized or changed by her 10,000 year(at a guess) experience or even *hug Link* at the end. She and Link are both exactly the same people they were at the beginning, no character development or sacrifices. Twilight Princess was a Zelda game that understood loss and character. It didn't have to commit to the title character being a dragon forever, breaking the cycle of Hylia's reincarnation and ending the temporal kingdom of Hyrule.
@QuinBoBin3 ай бұрын
Yeah I wonder how Zelda’s character would have been if the game went in past the ending you know? I would love hear how she feels about being a dragon for all of time
@RaggedVentures3 ай бұрын
@@QuinBoBin I think she implies it mostly feels like having been asleep, which I think is a cop-out. It had existential horror vibes earlier in the game, but in the end it's a nap. There's also fanart out there of Zelda with some dragon features still, like patches of scales and those blue antlers. That might've been neat, visually.
@shadowenderscar3 ай бұрын
I agree with the tragic ending alternative because it would’ve solidified Zelda’s sacrifice and the impact of it. They can always make up another timeline for their next game without retconning this one. And also because I’m an edgy bitch that loves tragedies That ending really was a deus ex machina move. Rauru and Sonia appearing out of thin air and conveniently having the power to change Zelda back despite everything kinda soiled the stakes for me. Like her sacrifice wasn’t as impactful since they just patched it up like it was a minor flesh wound. Nintendo didn’t have the balls to end a sad story with nobility. The least they could’ve done was apply the fanart of her half-human half-dragon form with horns and scales because it looks cool and it’ll feel like something significant actually happened.

i most unfortunately thought it was kinda boring to have zelda come back, it didn't felt. cathartic? i'm a huge fan of happy endings but in totk it really feels like it didn't need one, and the impact of what zelda did should've lasted. all the desperation mineru had over her becoming a dragon fell through and by the end it was for nothing cause [check notes] rauru and sonia would magically appear to make everything go back to normal, including link's arm?? that one was bs, you gotta agree lol

*Spoilers included about ToK* I personally am kinda miffed that Zelda was released from dragon prison in the end of the game. I think it would have been a lot more poetic that Ganon was destroyed as a dragon, and Zelda, the incarnation of Hylia, continued to rule the skies over Hyrule, trapped as a dragon to end the evil scourge of Ganon, having brought back Link's sword from several hundreds(/thousands?) of years in the past. Minera stated that it was non reversible, and the fact that Sonia's and Rauru's spirits together were able to dispel the forbidden ritual, because they have time and light powers, just... really soured the end of the game for me. For one thing, that's implying to some extent that the tears were some kind of darkness, maybe? Or Nintendo is just like... this is Hylia, adding more light, and a bit of time reversal will do the trick.. it just seems like a cop-out. "Here... we're saving Zelda, because franchise. Shut up"
@big_ole_queer_mess3 ай бұрын
That's kind of how I feel too. I'm happy they brought Zelda back, but I wish they'd found some other way to do it? I don't know how, personally, but I feel like it could have been handled differently. I also wish Link hadn't gotten his arm back. I have a little headcanon in my mind that during the scene where Mineru's soul is set to rest, he gives Raru's arm back (I don't know how that would work exactly but whatever) and Purah makes him a new one

The bubbul frogs and caves were my favorite part of my 100% playthrough. Each cave had a genuine sense of exploration. I would have vastly preferred if transforming Zelda back was a plot point that was worked towards and not a last minute handwavey thing with a vague explanation. Practically no NPCs have dialogue related to learning Zelda is the Light Dragon, so it's like. You learn a monumental thing only for it to have 0 effect on the story. I felt like I was going crazy, learning she was a dragon very early yet not being able to tell anyone, despite the fact that finding her was a major 'mystery' all the other characters were trying to solve throughout the whole game.
