'I will return to the Russian army when I return home' - exclusive interview with Russian POWs

It has been an entire year of the Russian full-scale war and since the late days of February, both Russians and Ukrainians became POWs. This footage is exclusive: our correspondent was in the specialised camp for Russian prisoners of war. They have different professions, they are of different ages and they have different dreams of what to do when they return to Russia: someone wants to return to their pre-war work but someone says that will return to the army of the aggressor state.

Ironically, the Wagner penal slaves taken as POWs get much better treated by the people they invaded than by their own countrymen.

Propaganda bs. Actually it's the other way around. Russian treat their prisoners much better. War crimes are far more widespread from Ukrainians.

And the ironic part is that those Wagner prisoners aren't even protected by the Geneva conventions as they are mercenaries. In other words they threat the Wagnerites better than they need to do.

5 star hotels for them and Ukrainians are treating them better than their own. It melts my heart when I hear Ukrainian Pows how they are treated and all of them return back 30kg less. I hope they open their eyes and fight for their own freedom. At the moment they go back they will be sent back to the frontlines.

Based on this, Ukraine treats prisoners of war in accordance with international agreements. Russia has a different attitude, prisoners are killed and humiliated and starved. Russians could mostly be described as orcs.

Hmmmm....while they shot the poor Ukrainian soldier living in a trench, unharmed, smoking a cigarette in the cold defending his homeland. It is very unfair in my view. I don’t know anyone from Ukraine, but you cannot convinced me that they’re not my brothers and sisters. Ukrainians are going through unbelievable suffering with dignity and we in the free world must continue to support them. To all Ukrainians, I salute you, especially those who are in the fight. ❤ 🇺🇸.

@UATV English: Are there versions of your video in Ukrainian / Russian original language, optionally with english subtitles? It would be great if you could place a link to the "original" version (without audio overdubbing) in the video's description. Some of us have Russian relatives or "friends" whom we'd like to show such videos. Thank you!

Hello, srh! There's a Ukranian reporter, I think he is called Volodymyr Zolkin, who has shared lots of content specialy on the russian POW's subject, here on KZbin. He has interviews with the POW's, and I even remember he once made a video "guide tour" style of one of these detention facilities. In that video, he filmed the conditions of the facility, the cantine, the food storage, the beds, the showers, the work instalations for the POW's, the yard... And all of it during a normal day of the POW's. Most of his content is in russian language. Again, I think his name is VOLODYMYR ZOLKIN, but i'm not sure. Sorry for that! 😐

Ukraine appears to treat the prisoners with humanity, when they have every reason not to; though an investigation by the United Nations Human Rights office reveals abuses by both warring sides. I understand the utter frustration Ukraine has, but the latest execution of an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war, Tymofiy Shadura ⚘ by the Russians, for uttering "Glory to Ukraine" is shameful. A deliberate policy of terror. Slàva Ukraini ! Heròyam Slàva ! 🇺🇲 🇺🇦 🇺🇦

TRIBUNAL INTELLIGENCE: We need also a tribunal for psychological damage, even when I run the risk of being persecuted as well. However people like me started because of the psychological damage the invasion brought along. The economic damage caused by Russia this way, is felt to some individuals, who will now have to rehabilitate in their nations. We need to train new ‘war psychologists’ for these people, because civilian psychologists are not trained for military experiences in most nations. It is extremely normal and desirable to create a deterrent for other nations, to have Russia pay reparations to other nations as well, under psychological and economical collateral damage.
