This one looks a lot nicer than the white one. I can see why you didn’t want to pass it up. Having the suspension already done is a big bonus. It appears to be a quality job hence the trouble free drive home. Can’t wait to see this project videos. Thanks for another great video.

Sick van! I totally had a similar deal.. 4x4 van with the Colorado camper top. Paid exactly $36,000 as well. The people that sold me my van were so nice, and we actually became friends. They made it part of the deal that I have to send them pictures and vids on any builds I do on the van haha. I can totally relate on that excited feeling you get on your drive home from purchasing your dream vehicle for a killer deal. I actually live pretty close to Tahoe and my wife and I are always up there, so I’m sure our paths will cross in our vans. It’s a huge ford 350 black van and I have a custom black and yellow license plate that says “VANSHIN”. I’ve been planning on making a van video as well with mine. You totally inspired me to make one 👍

Can’t wait to see the build….. too bad about the gas mileage, though you add some weight to it. It’ll probably go down a little bit. Hopefully it doesn’t get to 8mpg Definitely be able to get to some pretty cool spots though can’t wait to hear the design

Great van to build on! Has your opinion about windows changed? Losing wall space is big hit, but getting light and views of well placed windows is bonus. New window technology for insulation and controllable transparency would be an interesting rabbit hole to explore.

Nice van. I have a very similar silver 2011 Quigley V10 RB. I'm also on 35"s with about a 6" lift. I get 11.5 to 12 mpg completely build out with Aluminess and a CCV high top at about #9600 loaded. I'm jealous of the big fuel tank though. My modified-by-Quigley tank is only 31 gallons. Curious to see your build. I just got back from Colorado and did some of the toughest off-road trails there with my RB Quigley. They are very capable vehicles, much more so than most people assume. Cheers!

@1ode2joyАй бұрын
@@seven_o_savage I strongly recommend you quickly add or buy a compressor. These vans all ride rough and the SMB 4wd conversion is about the roughest, but it is very capable. I air down more often in my van than in any other vehicle I've offroaded. 20 psi does wonders for all conditions offroad from gravel to the Rubicon trail. Your fuel mileage really won't change but with big tires airing back up quickly is paramount. I have a 9 gallon semi-truck air tank with twin compressors feeding it.

If the odometer was not calibrated for the larger tires, you're probably getting better gas mileage than you think. A larger tire travels further for every indicated mile. There is an online calculator that shows the difference between the stock tires and what you have on yours.

The weird thing about mpg is at low mpg absolute differences make up a bigger percentage of the total so comparing, for example, 10mpg to 9.2mpg is counter-intuitive. Hypothetical, which ends up costing you more in fuel? Going from 40mpg to 31mpg, or going from 10mpg to 7mpg? Most people would assume losing 9mpg on the 40mpg vehicle would cost them more in fuel. You're getting 9 miles less per gallon which is 3x fewer mpg than in the 10 to 7 vehicle! In actuality though, it's worse to go from 10 to 7. You will end up spending 30% more on fuel in that 10 to 7 vehicle, but only 22.5% more in the 40-31 vehicle. The European standard of l/100km reverses things so that you CAN compare absolute differences, but it means you have to do some extra math to figure out how far you can go on a single tank. I'd put some thought into the aerodynamics of the vehicle as you're building it out. Julian Edgar has a really good textbook about it and he has tons of snippets in video format on youtube. Starting from 9.2mpg in an empty van isn't a great starting spot, anything you can do to keep that from dropping is definitely a bonus. You might be able to even improve on it if you do enough aerodynamic focused modification.
