Dude, I LOVE these positive songs! I wish more bands in our scene sung about happier things (without being corny of course).

Concert energy has grown even more and that's all that matters. Imo this album reached a different audience and made BT even more popular that it was Perhaps the pink color is what drives some metalheads crazy XD

My FAVORITE example of a fanbase NOT being receptive to a band writing what they're experiencing at the time is everything that Misery Signals did with Karl Schubach. The idea there was 'why doesn't it sound like The Summer Ended In June?? This sucks!' And the fact is, a bunch of really awesome dudes DIED to make that album what it was. Like, the Ghost Inside didn't sell out that LA show because they had a fun new album coming out. No, they literally almost died and that's what came of it. Sometimes, I think fans tend to forget (or worse, dismiss) the traumas that some great records have been inspired by. Like, you wouldn't be able to convince someone who lived through a fatal car wreck to think about it in detail, all the time, constantly, if they didn't want to. It's why artists like Chester and Kurt and so many others aren't here anymore. They went too deep into traumas and never came out the other side. We've had enough tragic heroes, I'm ok with trying to move on. It's cool if all you want to hear are bodies being mutilated and stories of mythological beings devouring children, but man.. even heavy music is so much more than that.

Forget whoever's opinion said this album sucked. The Surface is an album that put this man's life back on track. If you're hating on a man for finding a place in life that makes him happy, then you're just hating. Let the dude be happy.

I get what these guys are saying, but it is not actually about for example me wanting from Caleb to be depressed so he can make Disgusting II. His first EP and LP are emotionally hardcore not because he is screaming his guts out, but because the music was way more raw and interesting. We had deep bass lines. Interesting drumming. Amp noises and guitar feedbacks. One take vocals. Minimal post-production autotune bullshit. Each song had its own topic - disgusting had alcoholism and relapsing, depression, looking for love, anti suicidal songs, about making people united against our sins, against parent abuse... and it felt raw and chaotic. Everything sounds now radio friendly with digital production and autotune everywhere. I am glad Caleb is doing alright but look at Norma Jean. 9 records, adults yet the music is still heavy, chaotic and dissonant and creative. Not to mention the fact that his lyrics were not teen angst - they felt more open, abstract and less cheesy. That is also gone as well.

True story: I'm 39, 40 VERY shortly. Worked a crap job making good money for almost 15 years. Did college. Had relationships. Wasn't happy. Got low, quit my job. Flipped to a new career 4 years ago, and guess what? I make more money than ever, I'm happier and I have a better, more supportive personal and professional crew. Not because life gave me a break. Because I MADE that shit happen. It's super easy to bitch about life being hard, and no. I don't know you. But here's the thing: do ANYTHING for 10+ years and not do anything to make it better but EXPECT it to get better and at some point, that shit is on YOU. You can change that. You can stop making excuses. You can stop accepting less and dragging your feet, but I guarantee it'll be harder. And I'll be damned if that isn't why it's still shit for you 🤷
@brendoloe5058 Жыл бұрын
@@nolankuffner3573 that’s a great story man n good for you for finding happiness but I don’t find that in money or relationships, I don’t know where to find it and im obviously looking. But this get off your ass and be happy shit? I’m not broke I could find a relationship I love my family, ya kno? The way you found your peace is just simple brother and that’s good for you but get off your high horse g we’re not the same person!

I can't believe there are people who solely want to listen to angry, depressing music. Repetition of the same stuff with the same feelings grows old quickly. Michael Jordan: "Stop it! Get some help!"

The new album has such a good mix and energy, but I’m sorry it just has such a cheesy vibe. It’s not terrible but something about it turns me away and makes me say “eh it’s good but I’ll pass…” lol maybe it’ll grow on me more idk 🤷🏻♂️

@@LRM5195he changed. You stayed the same. Or that's when you peaked, so you hold it in high reverence because you personally were in a better place. Just wish fans of the band's older stuff could admit that to themselves and others 🤷
