It is exactly as you said, every time I have to tell of this game to anyone "It is the best book I've ever played". The level of depth, of humanity it displays, so succinctly and elegantly, is simply unparalleled. I love your relationship with Kim, because you realize that he has humanity, but he's also a man of his duty, and while you can allow yourself to escape the world and dream of what else is there and its possibilities, he knows he has to keep you on a short-enough of a leash if he has any hope of solving the case. On a related note, if you say that you're scum and refuse to rub your cheek on Lamby, Kim will bark at you and tell you to "Press your damn cheeks against Lamby, okay?" which is very telling of the kind of man he is.

"a tub warm with water, white with soap. a man bathes while radio waves transmit the lottery numbers... a modern washing machine rattles a drawer full of silverware." this throw away line tells us so much. a man, soaking away the pain of his work day is trying to cleanse himself from drudgery. the radio transmits his hope and escapism. nerves shake in anticipation like silverware rattling in a drawer. he is the washing machine, churning out production, an existence in circles, a faith for miracles - the thrill to get to tomorrow. you can FEEL this mans life in 3 sentences...
@billcipher31683 ай бұрын
Does listening to lottery while bathing makes your life miserable? I mean, guess it does, in the context of the game, metaphorically, but idk, it seems a lot like a normal life to be touching for me.
@sheepwshotguns423 ай бұрын
@@billcipher3168 well yeah, i didn't say his life was right or wrong. its simply... his life. the question i get from this is, who am i in relation to my work and struggles, and what might my "lottery" be?
@TessHKM3 ай бұрын
@@billcipher3168 actively playing the lottery kind of implies that your life is so unsatisfying you will regularly devote unknown amounts of your hard-earned money towards the most infinitesimal chance of getting saved from it. Or it just means you have a gambling addiction. Either way, I don't think the writers of this game waste words, especially on shivers/motoricz checks. Each line is packed to convey the most meaning in the least word possible. Telling you that a character plays the lottery - and how they play it - can communicate a lot about their personality. Do they never play the lottery? Occasionally? Obsessively? Do they regularly buy tickets yet make it a point to never check the numbers?

You are approximately half way through the game, but the actual game length depends on how quickly you progress on the murder case. When day 3 dawns, new physical areas of the game open up and are available. However, to open up any more areas requires progress on the actual murder case. The game clock just measures the time between times that you can sleep. There is no fixed time that the game will end. Only solving the case triggers the end game sequence.

This entire playthrough has been lovely but this was a particularly beautiful episode. In my mind, Lilienne's proclivity towards gratitude and empathy comes FROM her difficult environment. When you don't have the opportunity to choose your boats, choose your tools, it becomes all the more important to care for them. To quote Firefly: "You take a boat out in the water that you don't love, she'll shake you off sure as a turn in the world. Love keeps her flying when she ought to fall down, tells you she's hurting before she keens. Makes her a home."

About the games length, it’s as long as you want! You can play as many days although something’s are time/day oriented. For instance, water lock on day 3, which you’ve experienced. I’m not going to get into more as they would spoil. You’ll know when the game is going to end. You’ll get a prompt eventually that tells you, after this you can’t go back. Maybe that’s a spoiler but just saying you have nothing to worry about until that text prompt.

@eurobrady3 ай бұрын
It can be hard to separate that for sure. You just have to learn what your emotional bandwidth is, and be careful not to let so much of it be taken up by what you feel for others. You also have to thrive in your own life, and that takes emotional energy, so it is not selfish at all to put up boundaries that keep you from becoming too invested. Boundaries can be rigid or porous (either fully closed or with gaps), and with people you care for you can let yourself feel for them, but only until the point that it does not disrupt your life as well. It's a tricky balance, and every person is different, but it's something you can only learn with practice!
