Guys -- thank you for having me on. I don't remember enjoying a discussion this much for a long time. You're both legends!

I’d not heard of you before this Olly. My god, you’re an absolute inspiration. It’s because of people like you that the rest of us aren’t still living in caves. What a top guest!

Actually, the title should be "I stop caring about personal finance AFTER I got rich" - a much truer reflection of the podcast.

That’s such a gross misrepresentation

This guys early year experiences speak to my soul. I’m 25 and I’ve become obsessed with saving money since I started full time work. Every pound compounding contributes to long term financial stability. It has definitely come to the detriment of having experiences. I value freedom so much that Im struggling to live my 20s “properly”.

Got to admit, listening to this guy has me really thinking about the skills i have and how they can be applied in different ways. Really inspiring.

Pleased it resonated! We've all got so much more to offer than what we get paid for.

one of your best videos. As someone who is approaching 60 I can see all the opportunities I could have grabbed. Still time to improve for me :)

Great discussion. The point that i think is missed on language learning or anything else and natural talent is that while only 5% is talent, its easier to do the 95% wheb youre talented. If youre amazing at languages naturally then when you put in the work you start to progress quickly and that is motivation to continue. That then compounds and before long ypure gettong people saying "wow youve only been learning X number of months? Thats amazing" and you feel good and keep going etc. The reverse is also true. If you have terrible genes for fitness then you barely notice any orogress despite grinding in the gym for weeks or months and its really hard to find the motivation to keep going.

Have you ever thought of getting Charlie Lambdin (and maybe Alex Groundwater) on to discuss everything housing and economy?

When learning foreign languages, always remember time in the market beats timing the market Watch, listen etc to content, absorb the content

What's interesting, and perhaps ironic here is the 'understanding your value in the market' section of this discussion is really Olly explaining the Marxist observation of capitalist exploitation and surplus value in regards to one's labour: you're never paid what your labour is truly worth as a worker (in this sense it is not arbitrary).

Very good advice, just earn more ( where possible ) and worry less about how/where to invest just put more in.

What an amazing discussion. I’ve regretted my lack of financial control in my 20s. Now that I’m 35 I have this obsession of chucking 25-30% of my pay cheque into my SIPP. I do over time, I even used a loan to cover my expenses so I could maximise my monthly contribution. I can’t shake off the guilt. The scary thing is when I reach 57 I definitely need to consult a pension planner and speak to a financial therapy. This is incredibly refreshing to hear someone else’s view point.
