I Wish I Had Better News (Charlie Cat's Seizures)

What a week... I was surprised when he decided to jump on my shoulder this morning. He was never trained as a shoulder cat but he also has noticed the other shoulder cats since he was a kitten and every so often will jump up. I'll say it again, thank you all for caring. While there are of course always some negative comments on everything, the positive ones overwhelmingly outweigh them.

There is no such thing as caring too much for your animals! They give us unconditional love and it's the least we can do in return!! It's so frustrating having no control over it. Especially after Svetlana. I mean we adopted him knowing he had seizures, so it's "expected" in a way but it's hard to see him go downhill so abruptly.

@@BlindCatSvetlana I know what you mean. July this year I adopted a 19 year old cat. I took her to the vet because she had diarrhea. The vet put her on medicine and things we’re looking brighter. The diarrhea came back worse so again I took her to the vet. This time the vet found a mass that wasn’t there the last visit. Now she’s over rainbow bridge. The only thing that helps me is in that two months in my care she knew she was loved! RIP. Pokie

There are a million channels out there with beautiful, healthy, young cats that just show cute little videos with no problems. I like these videos but I also like yours. It blesses my heart that you not only take in sick/disabled cats, but also give them a channel for us to see them. Your channel normalizes them and shows us the ups and downs with each of their disabilities. Before I saw Svetlana, a cat with no eyes was kind of disturbing to me (which is funny because I used to have a cat with just one eye). But then I got to know Svetlana, and realized how cute she was and how blind cats are just normal cats. I'm now more open to the idea taking care of a cat that is completely blind. Same thing with Charlie. There are plenty of epileptic cats that deserve a loving home. Seeing you take care of him also shows me how to take care of a cat in this situation. Your channel shows the reality of truly looking after a pet, and it is inspiring and informative. Please don't feel like your channel not good because you've had some hard realities lately. We all loved Svetlana. And we love Charlie and the other cats too. Please keep making videos when you are able to.

Believe it or not your comment resonated with me more than any since I started KZbin. Which is saying something. According to KZbin, my 4 channels combined have over 250k comments. Sometimes I feel like I should make videos with wider appeal, even though that’s not who I am at all. Your comment reminded me that this really is helping. Now that Svetlana's gone he suddenly has tried MUCH hard to come and be with me. My first assumption would be that it's related to him just feeling like I was Svetlana's territory before. But I've noticed throughout life that whenever any cat leaves the house the other cat's social dynamic seems to shift. Sometimes enemies will become friends, friends become enemies and cats that had no interest in a particular human will suddenly like them. Zevran cat for example was public enemy number one with Kanga/Uncle Frankles until my wife's cat Harold passed away. Overnight Kanga and uncle frankles started to adore Zevran and Patrik started to hate him. Lol.

I rescued an old cat that was attacked by a pit bull and had a good chunk of flesh ripped from her side. Her healing took months. Unfortunately, she had a hypersensitivity in that area that provoked seizures. So she could be sleeping or otherwise dormant and if she felt a twinge in that area, a breeze blew her hair, etc, she would start seizuring and biting herself. She actually tore the area back open and she did clamp onto me once. It's heartbreaking. The area eventually healed but her condition never stopped. When I asked the vets about why this happened they said it was probably sensitivity on the site, essentially post traumatic stress disorder, and/or a neurological injury that occured during the attack maybe she got her head slammed. Nevertheless, she was my example of strength and tenacity, abd she was worth the patience and effort. Her name was Angel and she ultimately passed away and I have her ashes. Thank you for caring for Charlie.

I had a dog named Rocky. He had epilepsy his whole adult life, usually a seizure every few months, but near the end before we had to put him down, he was having grand mal seizures multiple times a week. It was absolutely heartbreaking, but we knew he appreciated the family being there and was less scared. Im 100% sure your cat knows what you're doing, and he appreciates the care just like my dog did

Apart from other diseases, my aunt has seizures since I was a baby. I'm 56 now. She outlived her brothers, sisters and inlaws. The biggest problem is faling and confusion afterwards (both less problematic for cats) and biting the tongue. For people it's also shame and fear, both also no problem for cats. If it's not a sign of something else going on, I wouldn't worry to much.

This kind of reminds me of when Svetlana was first diagnosed. The problem is that there are so many different causes to every condition and there are a lot of different outcomes depending on the cause and severity. Cats actually can die from seizures. Or have so many that their quality of life is low. Though many cats can live most of their lives with seizures and be fine. It really depends on the cause and severity. The alarming thing in this case is that his seizures appear to be getting more violent and longer. If that trend continued steadily there’s a good chance he may not survive very long. If it levels off he should be fine but it’s hard to say. And that’s all to say there isn’t some unknown underlying issue that’s brewing.
