No service was available when I went there. However, you can visit the nearest Tourist information center to know the latest guidelines.

When I went there in Nov' 23, tourists weren't allowed to go by cab beyond the checkpoint. But this may be different from time to time. So, you can visit the nearest tourist center in Almaty to know the current rule. I had to walk about 4 hours ( 10-12 km).

Road looks good for four wheeler but why they dont allow Vehicles ? 10 plus 10 km walking is not only strenous but it takes whole day's time & energy ...

Yeah. The road was fine. Don't know exactly why they didn't allow it. All they told was to repair the roads. As far as hiking is concerned, I won't recommend it, especially for someone who's not used to it.

Since it's a hilly area, you may not find a good connection. And sometimes, there is no connection at all. It changes as you move.

Thanks. It snows in Almaty in winter, and therefore, it's difficult to predict or tell the weather condition in advance. So, my suggestion would be to talk to the hotel manager or visit the nearest information center for accurate information.
