Ribeye steak, eggs, bacon, cheese, lettuce salad, almonds, walnuts, Pecans, quality butter, butter in my coffee, Almost zero fruit, if I ate any… it would black and blue berries and raspberries or a few strawberries. @ntombilanga3541 I'm not carnivore, but my meals always start with protein. I start with a protein shake (no fake stuff, no sugar or sweetners) and then go into eating eggs, beef, etc. Sometimes I'll eat it with veggies, sometimes not. Protein is KING in my diet.

One thing I haven't seen addressed about the OMAD way of doing things, is that from my experience doing OMAD for over a year, is that I think that giving my gut a break from permanently processing food from eating meals all day, SEEMS to make me feel way better and sharper during the day. I eat at dinner time every day, and that's my meal. When I do eat breakfast or lunch, I always feel so sluggish and way less sharp. I wonder if giving your gut a break, leads to positives that we don't know about yet?

I’ve done OMAD and IF for years. My body got used to it. I would also train hard 🏃‍♀. Started pushing the intermittent fasting up to 124 hour or 36 hour fast per week followed by daily intermittent fasting of 17 to 20 hours. I think it really messed my hormones up. I started getting irregular. And then my energy was really low. It was hard to get motivated to work out. I had very little strength. And I noticed that my metabolism pretty much just quit. it was like my body was in starvation mode so when I I. I’ve heard of other women talking about this. It took over a year to get their metabolism back after doing intermittent fasting for too long.

So very glad to hear this! I often have a pretty large late breakfast with lots of protein (eggs, bacon, cheese, & sometimes a bit of veg) and then don’t feel hungry again all day…including “dinner time.” I worried that I “should” eat another meal (even if I didn’t really want one) just to squeeze in some more protein. This info is a game changer for me! Thank you so much, Thomas!

I have course corrected at 51 years old. OMAD was a tool I used on and off for 3 months to strip fat off that led to 4 pack abs to 6 pack ads, taking all that fat off the organs, which I started at 47 years old. Fasting was a huge part of my over system. Utilizing fasting for timely eating was a huge habit formation that consistantly kept body fat% below 14% year around. The main thing here is that OMAD was and is a tool, fasting is a tool for timely eating to help with disfuctional eating patterns that made me aware of the process needed to learn to get this dream outcome. Also keeping my protein at 1.25 grams per pound of body weight per day allowed lean muscle mass to retain and grow... Great science Thomas! This science has been applied to real life for my clients. I have used this for myself for the last 4+ years. REAL LIFE RESULTS with this knowledge!

My whole family naturally does this but you're correct. One meal a day can be done safely but I've always found it was hard to get all my protein and nutrients in with just one meal due to stomach shrinkage lol. I just can't eat that much. So I spread it out to one larger meal at dinner time and one decent snack about 8 hours away from the meal for normal day to day eating in a non weight loss situation. If I wanted to lose eight I'd skip the snack and watch the pounds drop like you said.

1.25g per POUND of weight?? I’d always heard 1.3-1.6g per KILOGRAM.. per pound means that a 150 person would be needing to eat nearly TWO HUNDRED GRAMS of protein daily… that’s beyond excessive.
@agelessgains

@@lolawants2008 for my personal needs I take consume this amount of protein on lifting days... then I go back down to 1 gram per pound of body weight on non lifting days. As we get older our bodies use more protein for repair, recovery and immune system... I have seen long term clients including myself have better over muscle growth and recovery that leads to better performance with a lower amount of injury by increasing the overall quality protein intake on specific days.
@Mr.Tulitoes
@Mr.Tulitoes 4 ай бұрын
@@lolawants2008it’s not excessive. The recommendations are minimum that we should strive for. Protein is the building block of the body. If you’re doing more physical activity or just overall moving a lot during the day, then you need far more protein. As we get older we need more protein as well. There’s no reason for us to limit protein it should be prioritized in every meal.

@@lolawants2008- there are coaches who help people that aren't doing great on carnivore, and tell them to scale back on their pro Tien and add up to 20 g of carbs/net carbs (your choice, apparently) of cruciferous veggies primarily. So there is a set of people who don't do well if They eat too much protein at one meal and/or avoid carbs. Hormone issues, and assorted other problems. On the other hand… Some people are absolutely thriving on much higher amounts of protein, and some find that they do better on certain kinds of proteins than on others. there are no hard and fast rules, and some people thrive more on eating the same meal over to over and others seem to need more variety. There are so many variables that we don't even know how to factor into this equation. I would just say that we need to keep learning and trying to figure out What the variables are and how those impact us when we eat in different ways… And not to expect when eating plan to be THE eating plan for the rest of our lives.

I have eaten very large protein-laden meals for years and have always known that my body utilizes it very well. I've always been told that I should only eat no more than 30g of protein per meal. Even nowadays, I backload my protein intake to my last meal of the day, +/- 100g per meal, and my body utilizes this while I sleep. I don't do OMAD, but my meals during the day are smaller so my metabolism isn't negatively affected.

I’ve been carnivore for the past 5+ years-best nutritional choice I’ve made in my entire life. Started doing OMAD in the evening around the 14th of February this year. I usually have a nice fatty steak, some cream cheese, and 6 eggs, or I’ll simply miss the cream cheese and make a fatty 6 egg omelette with a few spices seasoned in. OMAD is the second-best nutritional choice I’ve made in my entire life. I’ve dropped at least 9KG since then, dropped by 3.8 body-fat percentage & generally feel and look 100x better in the month and a half since I started.

I’ve been doing the Carnivore Diet for 1 year, and started doing OMAD 3 weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. I’m never hungry and I don’t crave sugar or carbs. I’m currently 460 lbs, and I’ve been eating between 550-650g of protein per day, but my goal is to get down to around 275 lbs, so I should cut back the amount of protein I’m eating down from 550-650g to 275g.

Thomas: You are one of two people I watch every day! I have a comment about the timing and amount of protein you mentioned at around 6:25 in the video. If you get protein earlier, then yes - you will use it for synthesis. If you wait, however, you extend autophagy due to the demand for aminos and the lack of intake. So I try to do one meal a day and cram in a lot of meat and dense veggies during that meal. It's easy because as soon as I start eating it makes me hungry. I followed OMAD for a period of 8 months, combined with weightlifting and HIIT training (cross-fit style). Workouts were very intense at 4PM, and i ate right after around 6PM. My calorie intake was around maintenance (which was a lot with OMAD + intense training every day). My bodyweight of around 71KG stayed the same, i just lost fat and gained muscle. Not concerned about the metabolic rate, i ate more than enough. My body and organs just adjust to this because i pushed myself the first weeks, after that i even had to watch out i wouldn't eat too much! My regimen now consists of workout 4PM, eat OMAD (6PM), sometimes (1-2x a week) adding an extra meal in at 3PM before training when i know it's an intense workout consisting of heavy leg work for example. I do a 72 hour fast at least every month. High protein, mostly clean, good fats, and throw some unhealthy snacks and food in there too because i know i can have it easily! (i'm not a 100% fitness and longevity freak at least some of this keeps me balanced, at least i can feel like i deserved it.) Feeling the best i have ever felt in my life.

The biggest issue with omad for me, is simply consuming enough calories to satisfy my BMR. I can't do it, so I have my main meal at lunch, and then a second "top up" around 4pm. So it is sort of an extended omad. That way I can get my nominal 2200 kcal/day. With strict omad I just can't stuff enough food down my gullet in one sitting. I have been doing this for 10 months and loving the results. For reference I am an ovo vegetarian.

I do OMAD out of self-defense essentially.....if I eat during the day, I can end up in a coma on the couch, depending on what I ate.....eggs are the least problematic, but most anything else puts me somewhere between a lazy brain fog, and as I say - a deep nap when I dont otherwise want or need one, as I sleep very well at night. Also, not eating during the day keeps me razor sharp mentally. I would love to figure out why I have this reaction to food, as it would make my life a lot easier. As such, this video is reassuring in that I can at least get enough protein on OMAD, or at least close to it, if not the micronutrients. I depend on shroom powder, greens powder and a good ol' multi for that I guess. YOU DA MAN!

Bart Kay has been saying this for years. One meal a day with a huge amount of protein raises insulin, not as high as carbs but enough to make your kidneys retain electrolytes. You don’t need the carbs. Don’t complicate things Thomas.

Fasting still releases human growth hormone. The good outweighs the bad. The protein debate has been around since working out was a thing. Its common sense that if you ate all your food at once, you wouldn’t absorb all the protein and you would be far under your daily goal But there are many other benefits to fasting with the biggest one being boosted immune system, better cell repair, better sleep Also much better will power in general. Having control over your food is powerful in the mind, its a huge thing

To have presumed previously that one can’t absorb a lot of protein in one sitting is ridiculous. Just ask any OMAD carnivore who only poos lightly a couple times a week. Of course it’s getting absorbed.

I've been doing OMAD for years, with small cycles of regular 16/8 and cycles with no fasting. I personally like OMAD as it's the easiest on to keep on track. It was the easiest way I ever lost 30kgs.. repeatedly. So there have been relapses, but when i'm on it, i'm fit and lean, can do 2 workouts a day, feel no cravings with total peace of mind and I don't require more than 6 hours of sleep. These are my personal views and observations of my own experiments. I do not suggest that you dive into this head first. I started with following this channel in 2018. Thanks Thomas!

This info is nothing new for carnivores. When I was on the lion diet I ate only ribeye steaks, once per day i.e. OMAD. I would only have bowel movements once per 3-4 days and it would be barely anything. This led me to conclude that it was all absorbed. I also noticed my muscles being fuller and denser. All this research is exemplifying what I experienced.

And advice on repairing your metabolism? I am 56, 75" tall and 265. I have eaten garbage food most of my life up until 2012. I quit smoking, drinking soda, and eating less. I have mostly eaten below my TDEE for the last 10 years I've cut out breads and pasta the last couple ke years. I can drop 10-15 lbs but that about it. I know my metabolism is jacked up as I gain weight eating 1500-1800kcal a day.

Im Glad to hear about being able to have more grams of Protein in my diet. I have done a lot of OMAD and shot from 76KG down to 69KG, with some 3 day fasts as wel. I only have a little bit of fat on my stomach and am trying to loose the last bit. What I have been trying, is some good quality meal replacement shakes (with Good quantities of Protein) with the one meal a day. I have started doing the gym, so don't want to loose muscle Mass, which was happening when doing OMAD and Cardio only (Cycling).

Having previously done OMAD/carnivore (Vince Gironda style) for almost a year and having built excellent lean mass during that time I cannot pretend I'm surprised by this data. A pound or so of beef and 8-16 eggs a day in a single meal around 2:00pm eaten over about 90 minutes. Bodyweight at that time was around 225 at 10%BF. This was in the 90s for me. Thanks for confirming what some people already knew.

I've come off intermittent fasting one big meal day which I was doing for almost 2yrs and back to splitting my food into 4 meals in a 12 hour period. My bad cholesterol has gone up to high levels and blood pressure and I have now started experiencing various health issues I feel from poor blood flow. I always had a super fast metabolism, I'm now mid 40s, I think my father may have suffered heart health. Anyhow maybe I have more fats in my bloodstream from fasting, maybe it's my age, maybe my genetics, maybe it's not enough water when fasting, maybe it's malnutrition, but I do feel better now I've increased my meals (basically morning protein shake and a midday brunch with various supplements). I feel like that stubbon belly fat is coming down now. I use to enjoy one meal a day for it's simplicity but I don't want to take the risk now. I'm going to recheck my blood pressure and cholesterol in 2 months see if it's made a difference

Some things you might want to know are the importance of staying hydrated, listening to your body's hunger cues, and making sure to get all the necessary nutrients in that one meal. Drinking water or other non-caloric beverages can help with that. Secondly, if you're feeling hungry before your mealtime, it's okay to have a small snack or adjust your eating schedule. Make sure that your one meal is balanced and provides all the necessary nutrients your body needs. Including a variety of foods like proteins, healthy fats, and carbohydrates.

I never questioned getting enough protein when on OMAD. If you are deficient in maximum protein intake I did not think it was such a terrible issue. My concern is with the micronutrient deficiency. There's just not enough space in my stomach to be able to eat a wide enough variety of foods to guarantee all micronutrients. Thanks for the study review.
