I think we need more tutorials on break downs, prog trance bass synths and overall structure of a track... these are the real roadblocks.

Learn to analyse your favorite tracks in a very structural manner. Take the elements you enjoy the most and understand what exactly is going on. There are plenty of vids regarding prog bass, especially from Dash. Music hasn't changed so much, look at old compositions of Bach etc. And do what they did. Listen to lots of music that you like and try to identify patterns they are using.

Amazing video, I want to add more. I came from hanging out with videographers a lot. What they have been telling is A roll and B roll. I didn't understand because I have never shot or edit any videos for serious before and I searched on the internet to get the meaning of it. Then, it got me aha moment and I started writing 2 different 8 bar loops like A and B. You can write different chord progressions or rhythm or switch instruments or even genres for B roll. You can slowly introduce each loops in A and B or even cross introduce it from each different rolls or just suddenly switch from A to B rolls.

Personally, I think the Too Much part could be pretty epic as a peak moment in a track. It's boring when you do it every track, but every now and then.. some sensory overload.. Got no problems with that ;) But I get the gist, very good technique. Thanks for sharing this.

the too much part is briliant, like you said, track peak moment, to me a good set is like that, ends with a melodic blast, upthere with Goa leads

You can do this in Reaper too, chop with S. And you csn nondestructively cut, and even stretch midi etc

I've heard a select few people say you should only ever have one (optionally layered) lead to keep it catchy and easy to digest, I could not disagree more. Splitting up parts over multiple instruments can INCREASE how clearly structured and catchy it is. Let's say you do the call and response with 2 leads, you can have a third for little flourishes at a certain part every 2 bars etc. It is a really cool effect to then layer 2 of them during a climax or transition etc. if they layer nicely though, + ear candy stands out so much more when it's not constantly the same thing. (It is possible this advice just came from people who struggle with not making it sound jarring, that's something to look out for if you're not going for that)

Sometmes i’ll just grab midi and throw it around and sometimes i’ll use crazy modulation on an instrument selector

Hey I wanna try Bitwig is it smart to start with “producer” rather than “studio”? I like what I see and it might be my next daw Using Ableton Studio One and Reaper but this looks the best for linear to nonlinear writing and would go to the others for the editing and mixing

I'm new to this DAW, when recording is running, then I press stop, the timeline does not move to the beginning of the clip. How can I make the timeline field move to the beginning of the clip when I press stop? It's annoying as hell.
@DashGlitch9 күн бұрын
if you record into the scenes rather than timeline it works on bar lengths
