Picked up my Grenadier up March 7th. Have 2K miles on it. It's an incredible vehicle. Nice as a daily driver, fantastic off road. Someone just took a similar if not identical stock Grenadier to yours and ran the Baja 1000 start to finish with zero mods. Same spec as my Grenadier and Shale Blue too, like mine and yours. Sir Jim Racliffe, who conceived the Grenadier because of his love affair with the original Land Rover 110's has done a great job. He went to Magna Steyr in Austria, (who engineered and builds the Mercedes G-Wagon), to engineer and design the Grenadier. It's built more robust then the G-Wagon. This vehicle is designed to last 25 years. Jump on in, the waters fine.

My late Father used to say never be the first to try out a new thing. Wait and see if anyone dies from it. Also Ben you are young enough not to remember how cars were ordered back in ancient times. Some packages were available but a lot of items were an individual option. And color choices were widely available. From what you say it seems like these folks are returning to that a bit.

The reason why they didnt go direct like Tesla or Rivian. The laws in US are antiquated and Electric car manufactuers were able to bypass the law of dealerships because the law was written for ICE. Ineos could have fought it but it would have taken 5 years and lot of cash to have goverment say yea no. So hence the dealer network was created.

My local dealer has about 20 Grenadiers sitting on the lot ready for customers. I wanted to dislike it, but checking it out IRL... they are awesome. For the price that dealers are asking for the new Toyota LandCruiser - with a four cylinder engine, street tires and 8 inches of ground clearance... you can buy a Grenadier. Crazy.

It might be worse than that. I have a Grenadier and a couple of Toyotas. The service guys at the Toyota dealership (who love the Grenadier and told me they want to service it on the DL) told me to get a First Edition LC and the mods for lift, wheels etc so it doesn’t absolutely suck, I would be “looking at $100k - easy.” That includes dealer markup - which there is none for the Grenadier. Absolutely gobsmacked.

The biggest obstacle in my opinion is the distance to the dealership network if you do not live within a reasonable distance of a dealership.

Magna Steyr is an austrian company that was highly involved in manufacturing many great cars + parts (Mercedes G wagon for example) so they have a great reputation and build quality. It was a smart move by Ineos to gather a lot of high quality parts from the market for the grenadier instead of trying to build own solutions like a whole new engine or drive train.

Magna is a Canadian based company with plants worldwide gentleman named Frank Stronach started the manufacturing company years ago specializing in car parts and now cars themselves, thanks for the elucidation I did not know they made the Grenadier

I bought mine locally from Ron Tonkin in Portland, OR. Mines green with the brown leather interior accents. The off road/locker dif options and rock rails as well but that it. I LOVE mine!

I'm very curious to see the Grenadier Vs. Toyota Land Cruiser videos that you and others will do. The LC looks to have a more complicated engine and tranny. But it's more powerful and efficient along with Toyota reliability. But its still a turbo. Where the Ineos is old school straight 6. Which will be more reliable? Wheelbases are nearly identical. A 4x4 competition will be needed. I will also be interested in seeing which have the most articulation. I wanted a Grenadier at first but the LC is looking better on paper.

Would have preferred the BMW I6 B57 turbodiesel but the aftertreatment equipment on those kills the reliability. Just bought a MY23 Ram Rebel 2500 HD with the Cummins last September, but will keep my eyes open for more on these as it comes out.

I backed out because I drove it and I found the machine to be underpowered and the steering is too much work. Both are common reactions since they began deliveries.There is a lot to like about the machine and the price is fair.

ANY turbo engine by definition is under stress compared to a NA engine. The concern is how much stress are you willing to live with as you contemplate mods or a tune.

I learned my lesson when I got a brand new 1999 Harley Davidson. It had the new 88ci engine. I was a genie pig. There were so many issues. I never buy new versions for major purchases.

The looks of the vehicle and the off-road features are awesome! For those that are interested, please comment on #1. The completely different feel in the steering characteristics (Not self-centering and a lot of play in the wheel to affect vehicle steering. Great for rough conditions off-road. Strange and unnatural for normal highway driving). #2. No lumbar seat adjustment (Even in the highest trim levels). #3. The brake and accelerator pedals are pushed far left of normal placement (Due to the large center console hump). While depressing the brake pedal with your right foot in a normal brake placement position, your foot rides on the far right edge of the large brake pedal. -I wanted to love everything about this vehicle. Please evaluate these things before you purchase. A 10-minute test drive will confirm or deny my observations. Good Luck!

Beautiful car and paying cash for cars makes all the difference. Back in the day, I drove a lot of beaters because I didn't have the $$ to buy new. Eventually worked my finances up to being able to buy new outright. And I have been there ever since. Like this car, I wonder if the new Land Cruiser will be a category killer. I'm kind of expecting that, but we will see. 3 reasons I would choose the new Land Cruiser. 1. Toyota quality. 2. Available parts and service network. 3. Afftermarket parts. New Land Cruiser will have huge aftermarket support no doubt.

I think it looks cheap when the mirrors and bumpers and grill are not body colored. Also for half the money you could get a mint condition series 100 Land Cruiser or an LX 470 and have a much better vehicle that will last longer and be easier to maintain.

Black is preferable on off-road vehicles. One less thing to scratch, and if you have to replace it, you don't have to worry about buying the color, matched one or paying more to have it painted.

You're a fine example of Toyota fan delusion. No, a 100 Series is not going to last as long as the Grenadier. No it is absolutely NOT going to be cheaper or easier to maintain. You're talking about 30 year old vehicles that have 30 years of grime, dirt, and rust accumulation. Seals, hoses and lines, eletrical stuff... its starting to biodegrade and will need replacing. Engines, even the very best, don't last forever. I'm happy you enjoy your 470 and all. But goodness... delusional.

I had an order in for one and backed out and went to my local Lexus dealer and bought a new GX460. Just too many variables with the grenadier and for the price it was too risky. The one I spec’d was over $80,000, it’s a 1hr 30min drive into the service center for me. I had a problematic BMW in the past and I felt like it was broken regularly, the hassle and inconvenience to my life bringing it in regularly for unscheduled trips really piled on my stress. Plus there is a lot of questionable choices with their design, electronic shifter, what if you have an electrical break down and need to put it in neutral? I don’t want to have to go thru a bunch of gyrations to do that. What if your battery goes flat and you need to leave your vehicle unattended? Your doors don’t have the little pop up dealies to mechanically lock the rear doors and your battery is under the rear seat, how do you re-lock the rear doors? Do you just leave your car unattended with all your gear in it while you pop into the shops for a new battery? Electric power steering pump located behind the headlight, they have a perfectly good engine that can turn a power steering pump, why would you put it on an electric motor? If your engine is running, you probably want power steering anyways? I just have no confidence that over the years that the grenadier will give me a good span of satisfying reliability to price ratio.

First you said the motor is super reliable. Then you said it was relatively reliable, which is it? There's a big difference between the 2. And it may be reliable in the short-term if you take extra good care of it, but those engines Are not super reliable in the long term. More accurately. You could say they are of average reliability or slightly below. I think that would be more honest. Anyway, I like your channel either way blessings

Yup, the Toyota V6 with a supercharger, which they use in the Lotus Emira. I am sure they could tune it to about 300hp and 280 tq. It is a the “Camry” engine which has been proven to be very reliable.
