C’s do get degrees, but also keep in mind scholarships and degree requirements! Also keep in mind that putting a little extra effort in assignments, can take some stress off of how well you have to perform on tests or finals. I always went for gold because I knew there were some weeks I wouldn’t want to complete and assignment or put as much effort into papers. I still got straight A’s, wasn’t super stressed, and got to say I was in the top of my class with another woman! Don’t sell your skills short! I’m in grad school now!

Exactly. Good grades gets you money and opportunities that are not even publicized. I had a professor create a paid summer research position for me because I did well in his class. Also I got super sick before finals and the prof only gave me grace because I had an A going into the final. Another reason to do well is you need recommendations. Also, plans change after graduation. Many people go to grad school after a few years of working.

C's get degrees but they dont keep scholarships. Also, some extracurriculars require you to maintain a certain GPA. One thing I would say is do it at your own pace. Dont let people try to rush you for no reason.

Grades don't necessarily reflect learning, but it's important to get your money's worth! You picked your major bc it's interesting or bc you want to work in that field, and you're probably paying a ton, so you might as well learn the material.
@esmfamil5086

Getting straight As absolutely matters even more so than high school. Wanna do research? Wanna do internship? Fellowship? Apply to grad school? Yeah they'll be looking at your GPA for any degree that's gonna pay above minimum wage. There are exceptions of course but the exceptions are just that, not the rule
@ItsJustMeee

Right! I was thinking the same thing. If a job has two qualified applicants with a similar educational background, the job will also look at the applicant’s college GPA and transcript to determine which individual they are interested in. Also, if someone paid for a college, why not get your money's worth and strive for A’s??? This video is misleading.

I graduated from college in May and unless your major is in the arts or something similar grades actually do matter. You don’t need straight A’s but you should aim for at least 3.0 GPA. A good majority of colleges will most likely kick you out if your GPA is too low. Forgot to add that there are employers that will look at your GPA.

One thing I feel like best understated or overlooked is “doing college at your own pace” I feel like so many people feel pressured to do it all in 4 years or to hop straight into university even if they can’t afford it financially or mentally, and this is something I didn’t realize until after I took 2-3 years off away from college is you can finish it on your own time at your own pace. Obviously if you wanna be at a certain place in your life at a certain range of time that’s different, but if you just want to finish college you don’t have to rush or feel stressed to do it all in 4 years. Ik a lot of people who either went back after a gap year or two, waited to start Collen later in life, or even take 6 years instead of four. We all got our own pace. I hope my meanings was conveyed well I’m typing this at work so..😅

The problem with "C's get degree's" is you never know what you will decide to do in the future, and in the case you want to go back to school later in life, they will look at stuff like that.... so maybe don't just do the bare minimum?
@abbigailslone6162
@abbigailslone6162 7 ай бұрын
I agree to an extent. I always feel that you should try your absolute best and go for an A but, with college we have to accept that we might not get an A and it’s a struggle just to pass a few classes. It’s about trying your absolute best and giving yourself a little bit of grace when it still gives you an average result. Also scholarships and such will be easier if you have better grades, but with college for me it was a wake up call to hey, I may not get an A but I want to understand as much as I can and do my best. I was an all A student in highschool and when I got to college I’m a solid A, B and 1 C student so far, and it’s something I’ve had to accept, that I am human, and as long as I’m doing my best I’m content. Time management is important as well so to me it’s better to get solid Bs than to spend so much time on ONE class struggling for the A that my grades slip in the rest. Hope that helps on seeing the mindset!

The real problem with “Cs get the degrees” is you’re paying all this money for what? To do the bare minimum and barely learn. To not learn as much as you can and gets your moneys worth.
@abbigailslone6162
@abbigailslone6162 7 ай бұрын
@@chillenright4166 you go to college for the degree to get a job in a field that is typically only granted to those with degrees or connections. And sometimes a C was still hard work and well earned…in highschool you’d have to really slack off to get a C, in college you can do every assignment and try your hardest, but come exam time you realize you don’t know as much as you should and it tanks your grade. “Cs get degrees” is not truly a statement about slacking off, but being realistic with yourself and realizing there will be some things you struggle with and we have to set realistic expectations with ourselves. May I ask if you’ve went to college?

Hi guys, For certain programs like engineering, your GPA does matter. But the GPA is only important for your first internship or job. Always aim to be above a 3.0 GPA because it’s better to have the option for graduate school than to regret it.

as a grad student with a PhD, I’d give my suggestions as started off with a to your college and then transfer over you get seniority and it’s cheaper and you can still get your degree from where you want it. Yes, learn how to eat on a budget lastly, go over budgeting before you start school they should require this as a classhow to avoid student loans and how to afford life as a student there’s so many factors for every individual and that there are a lot of things out there you can get for free for students or for your dorms

So interesting, I am from Belarus and here good grades matter if you want a scholarship but universities are affordable and grades don't matter that much and few people pursue strate As. But so many are trying to find an opportunity to study abroad or at least dream about it, such a common discussion for teens. And most people cook because eating out is too expensive for a belarusian on a daily basis; I started cooking when I was 12. But our university system is a different universe compared to the USA, and sadly isn't that good :(

Don’t do anything more then what you need to get an A ( or B or whatever grade you need/want)…. If the lowest test score is dropped and you already have an A… do not study or go to that final and spend your time and energy on a different class.

Do not buy the textbooks. I did and they are now collecting dust and if you try to resell them to the bookstore they will pay you less or nothing at all. Even if your professor says you need it just look up the book online and see if there is a pdf because I spent over 400 dollars on textbooks and the majority i only opened once maybe twice. The only time I would suggest buying is if you need a stinking code to do your homework. College is expensive even with financial aid so create a plan of classes to take with your advisor so you don't waste time taking unnecessary classes and wasting your time and money.
