Best of luck to you Dusan and congratulations for not giving up. I would still encourage you to learn at least some Croatian because you live in the country and it's unlikely that all your neighbours speak English, let alone be fluent in it. And I'm sure you'll feel a sense of accomplishment as well.

Hey Ivan, I had a basic knowledge of the language even though it was predominately Serbian I learnt whilst living in Beograd for 8 months. But as you say my neighbours dont speak English so day by day my language is getting better and better,

Dobar dan, I think it's important to have a plan and not just one, but a plan B too, Me myself I want to find cheap proberty in continental Croatia and live selfsufficiënt for a large part. So no idealistic picture on a warm beach but instead hard work but fulfilling work on a homestead.

Hey Dusane, greetings from Montreal. Agree with everything you say here. Moving is not easy, but hopefully at the end of the day things work out for the best. Some people going to Croatia are returnees, and I'm sure even they would find it nerve wracking dealing with the bureaucracy there. I know, I was tested on occasion when wife and I attempted to settle there a few years ago. Returnees do have one advantage (or disadvantage, depending how you look at it, hehe) in that they probably have some relatives there who can help them through all the BS. Cheers, Nick

Yeah i think the vast majority are returnees, which is great. Includes me - kinda. But unfortunetely dont have any family here to help! When are you next visiting?
