Just a disclaimer I am still learning this technique. I know the work is not perfect. This set took me way longer than expected and the client was getting very annoyed. I asked if I could fix her length to match the shorter nails and she didn’t want to. I tried to make it better but was under some pressure from the client. But I did mention that this is a new technique for me prior to her even coming in for extensions and she was fine with it. So please try to understand that I’m still learning and looking forward to improving 😊

Sounds like they both added products & are all being added together and on top of each other that should have been soaked off to the natural nail. If you listen she says the other tech she went to said she had a lot of cracks??? So she changed them. She didn’t like the shape so she came back to this girl. Even trash talking someone’s husband on a video thousands of people are going to see is SO unprofessional! She should have been taught that if she got her license somewhere reputable. Now it looks like she’s just fumbling her way through learning poly gels! There are so many technical mistakes this girl is making that I would be scared for her to do my nails and she sounds very sweet but she’s risking really hurting people. Look how ragged the cuticles are and she’s already just working away. She needs to be cleaning the cuticles off the nail beds and having her wash her hands with a nail brush before she ever starts as part of her prep. Not waiting until the end and squirting some kind of foam on nails in the middle of doing them. I never saw a primer or something to totally dry the nails properly. ‘Learning from KZbin’ is the MOST DANGEROUS thing you can do and she’s clearly still learning no matter how many people are ‘following’ her.

Cuticles are there to protect from bacteria and infections! When they push them back and/or cut them off they open up the risk of bacteria entering and infection starting!
@makeuparmy7698Ай бұрын
Only if the skin is broken. It is ok to push the cuticles GENTLY back after soaking them in warm water, and a soft drill bit or fine grit file to remove any remaining dead skin from the nail bed, but using any sort of removal tool like nippers or scissors is ill advised as risk of cutting too deep can cause the dangerous things you mentioned... I use the rubber ended pusher that comes with most manicure kits and my local beauty supply store has orange wood sticks with the end covered with different file grits for getting under nail extensions to remove any glue, debris, or product build up, but they work really well for getting into the corners and edges where the skin is more difficult to get off the nail bed because they are nice and slim with a tapered tip that is precise but not sharp...

My cuticles are insane... Massive overgrowth (lifelong nail biter; only time I don't bite is when they're covered with fakies!). If I don't trim them, they're like 1/4th th way I'll my little nail beds 😢 I have no choice. I use a cuticle exfoliater, lift them up with my cuticle tool on my nail drill, and trim as closely as possible.

What!? Pushing cuticles back is perfectly fine. It allows for better adhesion anyway. Trimming isn't critical to the service and is a personal preference - it is a highly debated topic and is more common in Europe. Exfoliating with a fine round bit is a happy medium and is no different from exfoliating skin in the shower.

A lot of nail techs don't trim. Its a controversial topic even within the industry and is more common in Europe tbh. Other techs will only use a fine round bit to exfoliate the dead skin off. But honestly if youre that scared by it, don't let that be the reason you never get your nails done. Just find a good tech who LISTENS. There are plenty of them who will not cut the cuticle if you ask them not to. Personally I'm only comfortable cutting my own right now and I've been doing nails for like 7 years. Id be more inclined to use a fine bit. But if someone asked me not to, I would just push the cuticles back and call it a day. A good nail tech understands it is about making the client comfortable & happy.

@@tracyjulien3287 pushing cuticles (or rather, the PNF, since 'cuticle' is just the dead skin stuck to the nail you scrape off) back is a completely different technique and if done properly and gently is not harmful. the key is being light and gentle with it, that way you free up your nail plate so you don't flood into the PNF when applying nail polish, and the pushed back PNF will spring back within half an hour to an hour at most, because it didn't damage the actual skin
@bts_army19Ай бұрын
Nail tech, here. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE GET PAINT LIKE THAT. This can be really damaging to the original nails and result in thining. It will also hurt a lot afterwards. Just file off the top coat with a buffer or drill. Use magic remover or any other gel paint removal. Leave it for 5 minutes and scrape it off cuticle pusher
@7eatherАй бұрын
I messed my nails up by scraping though.
@maddyrevenge17 күн бұрын
A genuine nail tech would clearly see that she didn’t file down to the natural nail. You can clearly see a layer of base coat left when she’s finished with the nail drill and is using the hand file. Doing a full removal and scraping off the base coat would have been a far more damaging process than what she did here. Also, “magic remover” is not a safe product and should never be used on a client, something a qualified nail tech should be well aware of. I dearly hope you aren’t doing so.

I am a nail tech's worst nightmare.. a nail-biter. I try to care for my cuticles but naturally weak nails when grown out. Had my nails professionally done 3 times, the 2nd time I told the nail tech to not cut my natural nails underneath and she did it anyway which I didn't give her a tip higher than 5$. Ik, trashy but wanted my natural nails. 3rd time, the same thing happened but cut them so short that when I went home I actually cried because she also unintentionally cut the part that helps grow the nail. Since then, just gotten the dreaded glue on nails 💅🏼
