I-Witness: ‘Vanished in the Lake,' a documentary by Howie Severino (with English subtitles)

Aired (April 29, 2017): Para sa mga katutubong Tagbanwa, tinuturing nilang banal ang lawa ng Kayangan sa Coron, Palawan. Ayon sa kanilang paniniwala, binabantayan daw umano ang nasabing lawa ng mga anito, na kung may mga nais pumasok dito ay kailangan muna silang pahintulutan. Isa ito sa mga pangunahing destinasyon ng mga turistang pumapasyal sa Palawan, hanggang sa ipasara ito noong Marso nang may dalawang turistang biglang naglaho.

My family was just there early December 2019. The most beautiful place I’ve ever seen in the whole world. Being senior citizens , the life guards were very attentive and baby sat us like mother hawks every second we were there. I would go there in a heartbeat !!! The Tagbanua Tribe of Kayangan Lake in Coron, as well as Sir Arni, are truly great role models that other tourist spots management in the country must look up to. They ensure the welfare of both the lake and tourists. I love how the local government respect their beliefs and traditions, instead of exploiting the area unlike other localities. Kudos also to the team of Sir Howie who presented the narrative of the spot in a very beautiful documentary.

I love the fact that they respect the local tribe's beliefs. The tribe respects and feels gratitude towards nature. Hopefully they will maintain the cleanliness and the balance of this amazing place and hopefully the tourists will be respectful of maintaining the cleanliness of the island as well. I grew up in the Philippines and grew up swimming in the rivers. Now, the rivers in my hometown are polluted. I was saddened when I saw floating garbages from the big fast food franchises. I just thought that my children won't be able to experience the joy of growing up exploring nature because as the coutry becoming more modernised and westernized, people tends to be more wasteful and acquiring more non essential materials that pollutes the environment. The Philippines is a very beautiful country. I look forward that someday, ill be able to return and enjoy nature like how i used to when I was little. So, please let's keep it clean and preserve it for the next generation and more generations to come. ❤

Salamat Howie Severino sa interesting ninyong documentary. Mabuti at natutong umunawa ang mga taga-labas sa nirespeto ng mga kapatid na Tagbanuwa sa Coron. Ang since time immemorial na karanasan sa kanilang teritoryo ay palaging sinasabing "superstitious' o paniniwalang walang kabuluhan. Ang kanilang paniwala ay siyang naka-preserve sa kanilang lugar. This suggest that simple life friendly to nature always presevre consevre, protect and nurture the nature. Ganito rin ang origina ng Boracay ng mga Ati sa Aklan. Subalit sa pagpasok ng "development" na turismo ay unti-unti na itong masisira ang buhay ng tagaroon at sa kalaonan ang tao na nandoon. Wala pang katutubong mamayan sa mundo na bumuti ang pamumuhay dahil sa turismo. Ang mga negosyante na hindi tagaroon ang may kita at bumuti ang buhay.

May 19, 2021. Nice one Mr. Hawie.. Iba talaga documentaries ng GMA. Mamamangha ka sa ganda ng lugar, at the same time mapapaisip ka about dun sa video, curious ka pero parang kakabahan ka naman kung sakali na pwede mo nga itong mapanood. Pero nakakapagtaka na kung sanay naman sila mag dive at lumangoy, bakit di nila natancha kung gaano nalang ang hangin nila.. o baka may kakaiba talaga dun sa lugar na pinili nila languyin muna imbes na lumangoy na pataas.. Ang weird siguro nung video na yun kung sakali..
