not to defend the first guy, but when I'm sick and dehydrated I can have entire conversations that I don't remember. that's not what's weird to me, the other girl not respecting the boundary is weirder/worse imo

to give him the benefit of doubt i have had alarmingly high fevers where i became delirious and talk with someone but only to learn later that the tv wasn’t even on and i was talking to myself. i’ve also fallen asleep in one spot and the woke up on the floor on the opposite side of the house, i’ve heard of people having hallucinations or seizures but his relationship with the roommate while being in a relationship was odd- not saying that if you have a gf that you can’t live with or have other friends that are girls but going weeks on end not speaking with your partner is lame, didn’t even drop in every now and then to say hey good morning, how was your day, f u or anything :/ dude lowkey sucks and i hope he grows from that

agreed!!! I personally would be fine with my bf living with a girl if he already was when I met him but if he started living with them after I would not be ok with that bc I just am too anxious attachment that I would be miserable and not sleeping HAHA

going to defend OP #1, seems extremely harsh on that guy when when he didn’t really do very much wrong. like, that relationship was doomed from the start because he was close friends with someone his gf’s ex had cheated with! feels like everyone really skated past that. just seems like a couple that was going to be together for like 6-9 months but ultimately not work, which is fine. he didn’t want to be with her during his maladaptive coping with parental abuse period, and she trusted him so little that she sees her bf unconscious from vomiting and thinks he’s been having sex? like let’s just close the book on that. it was not working, and normally it would not have to end so ugly, but that friendship is Chekhov’s insecurity right there and it was going to go off. honestly though, the friendship sounds better than the relationship, and worst case scenario, it’s maybe a little codependent, so i think good for everyone involved in the end

This is true!!! Agree 100% that it was most likely pre determined to be doomed bc of those circumstances I mean it can’t be easy to navigate that. I definitely think this comment puts it more in perspective for sure! For me I have a tendency to be a bit anxious attachment in relationships so I feel I would react the same bc of that but your take on it is definitely more level headed

@@jamie.nelson98 yeah and that’s so understandable! maybe i shouldn’t have said literally doomed, but like, if they were each other’s person, they would have to get past it in the same way as if the ex bf had cheated with someone other than that specific girl. like, she’s definitely going to have emotional needs around that, and he did at least some work to honor that by ending their movie nights turned sleepovers, which he definitely needed to do. but she also had some emotional work to do around it in terms of not projecting her fears onto OP as if he were her ex, because whoever she ends up with, she’s going to have to do that work to be in a healthy relationship with, right? because it’s like, if he were her person, i think more appropriate reactions been like “wow, glad my bf has a strong community, glad my bf has healthy relationships with women, hope he’s getting better, going to see what he needs now that i’m here.” and that mirrors his side of being like “so much easier to deal with my family abuse situation alone,” where it’s like… the person you’re going to end up with is someone you want to include in that situation no matter how hard. i think the fact that his friend is the (accidental) other woman from her ex bf is a total red herring (sorry, got a little too invested in this one lol)

Hiiiii! You took a cat nap with me today. 😂 (For the record, I was already lying down, you did not put me to sleep.) I’m so confused about the health insurance story. If he knew he had cancer and numbered days, don’t you think getting his affairs in order would be top of mind? I wonder if there’s a way to verify whether his company is one that prompts for beneficiary confirmation each year. Every time we renew our company insurance, I have to confirm who is listed on my policy. I’m not saying the ex-gf is correct for assuming, but I feel like there’s a way they could establish whether it was an oversight on his part or actually intentional.

I agree! some of the comments were saying that about the yearly confirmation as well but then some were saying that they don't have to confirm and it differs from company to company. I definitely think that he would have done something but I rlly don't see why he'd leave her the money when he has a gf and a mom.... like it just doesn't make sense at all to leave it to an ex that you weren't even in communication with. Sooo weird I hope there is an update coming
