My kids have played the Ojai in the junior divisions for years - one of the most special aspects of the tournament is getting to play your match at private houses - some of the most beautiful courts I have seen and the homeowners share them with the tournament players and fans for the weekend!

Well, you said it. I've seen you play at The Santa Maria Open years ago near my old home. Now I live in Washington State. It would be very cool if you would come play the oldest tournament in WA (The WA Open) at The Seattle Tennis Club literally on Lake WA, that would be super cool. I remember I played these identical twins at the Ojai. It was at an offsite location (club with sooo many courts) probably 20+. Those twins literally took 30-45 seconds to “talk” in between in each point. Their annoying dad was egging them on throughout the whole match. No line judges to be found, my coach was busy somewhere else. Freaken nightmare. We started sitting down on the court. Their mind games worked, ended up beating us 7-5 in the third. I should of walked off the court and refused to continue play smh

This got me curious and there is a recap of the 2019 (sort of) by Ryan Del Nero titled "The Ojai Tennis Tournament". I dont think I can link it but definitely look it up, they have Karue hitting a killer forehand in the clips they have. This looks like a lot of fun to watch. I am going to have to try to get out there next year to watch. Thanks Karue for this video!

Interesting, so Karue beat Raymond Sarmiento back in 2019 and now Raymond is the hitting partner of Emma Raducanu. He technically achieved a slightly higher singles (in 2017) peak ranking -- but that just shows the kind of grind this game is at the high levels. When he looked at the hotel and laughed I definitely sensed more to the laugh... Also the trophy in 2019 vs 2023 has changed a bit. They added that bottom level :D
