I'm broke. I live off of about $10 per week. But I still wear different things. There have been periods of my life where I was more well off than now so I have tons of clothing from that. Plus I hustle for what I want. Its rare for me to only have 1 job at a time. I've even had 1 full-time & 1 part-time job working 70 hours per week with no days off. I don't work this hard just for clothing though, don't get me wrong. Its also for savings, to be able to take trips and to live the lifestyle that I want. Sometimes it takes me having multiple jobs just to have enough extra income to be able to afford simple luxuries like a full body wax, which costs between $150-$200 in the US including the tip.

Not even having money problems. The issue is fast fashion that isn't versatile. Really if you buy stuff that is quality and more timeless you can have a larger wardrobe. I actually had a bigger wardrobe and wore way more as a student than I do now. Because of climate change & textile waste, I try to buy less pieces now. As a student, I was only earning minimum wage. But as an actual adult, every time my wage increases, so does my price range for clothing. So I buy less now because my items are more expensive versus having over 300 pieces that all cost less than $10. Most of my income currently goes towards bills & food. But as a student, all of my extra income went towards partying & cheap ebay fashion. I think it really just depends on people's life experiences.

I wouldn’t say a strictly numbered capsule wardrobe (like 15 or 20 grand total, and then replace or add to change to the seasons) like some people post about isn’t for everyone, but when I limited my wardrobe down to what fits on the number of QUALITY hangers I already own (I think I counted 40?) and the limited space I have designated for pants/shirts, it’s definitely freed me up - when I start running out of space I know it’s time for me to get rid of things. Another thing is to limit the number of colors you buy in (I have 5-7, which includes 3 neutrals), that way things are WAY MORE interchangeable. These things help 1. Reduce what you buy 2. Re-use what you have 3. Re-evaluate what you love to wear.

To all the people who feel this is not a big issue, please do some research- Do u even know how much we pollute the environment in just the production steps of a new garment. The textile waste that comes in the garment making steps is itself alarming. Clothing is the second highest pollutant in the world today. Apart from the land fill part, a single tshirt takes up about 2720 litres of water, which is as much as what a single adult would drink in 3 years. So the problem is not donating, it’s the basic attitude, we need to buy what we really need.

I only have like 30 pieces of clothing, and 2/30 of them is the U.A. High gym uniform from a cosplay shop where I almost got scammed

Next challenge: Nina does the Camino de Santiago and has to wear only 3 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, a sweater, and a poncho for 2 months, and she has to hand wash everything all the time, and people tell her she overpacked because she has 3 shirts instead of 2.
