Usage or excessive repetition of certain words or phrases is usually a pretty clear sign of computer generated stories. This is because as far as ai training goes, it's asking a computer to try over and over again to complete a certain tasking, and rewarding or penalizing successful unsuccessful attempts. This results in a lot of repetition should you want a long (about 45min+ story). It's kind of sad to see that the quality of creepypastas has gone down this significantly, they were practically my childhood. Like between 'strange list of rules' stories, 'these are my tales' stories, and 'darkweb' / 'backrooms', it really feels like the quality of online horror stories is just dead. It's never coming back, it'll never be what it once was.

as I'm listening to this story, I'm ten minutes in and its glaringly obvious that the writer knows a lot less about cybersecurity than the narrator they've written. I work in cybersecurity and not a single one of my colleagues would go anywhere near a smart home system or download random files onto a machine that they care about losing.

I don't really mess with the dark web, nor do I know everything about it. That being said, I do have an understanding of what it is. I have explored it a couple times, and I know what the tour browser and a couple others like it do. I mostly just used it to get a couple of bootlegged copies of digital material. The worst I ever did on the dark web was download a bootlegged and outdated copy of Minecraft pocket edition on a 3g phone. That's about it. Nothing really that interesting, and it was a long time ago. The only other thing I did was download bootlegged copies of music that I liked, and actually already had legitimately purchased on CD. I just did that so I could have it on my phone too in mp3 format as I didn't have the ability to rip a CD yet. Anyway I never really did anything too interesting nor messed with the dark web much. At the time I barely even knew that I was actually on the dark web. I haven't messed with anything dark web related in nearly a decade. I guess you could say I was quite a vanilla user of the dark web, and I can count on my fingers how many times I used it. Anyway, thank you for the awesome pasta CreepsMcPasta. I definitely liked it, and it brought back some memories.🖤🖤🖤🖤

This story was just the author seeing how many ways they could repeat the idea that they used to find comfort in their computer but now they can't. I seriously kept thinking Id accidentally started it over but it was just him saying the same thing over again hah. 30 mins of story without saying anything. "I spent days fighting" how tho? How was it affecting him? Ok I'm done. Good story tho. Thanks to all who were involved.

This may have been the stupidest most poorly written story I have ever heard in my life... I think it was an exercise into how many times you can say codex in the same paragraph and get away with it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks it sucks. Like they keep talking about how horrible it is or how it’s some dark entity without ever explaining it. It’s like the Bird Box movie the character us trying to beat a threat without the threat ever being shown as an actual threat.

Thank you Creeps for this reading! However, this story, to put frankly, was a terrible listen. From my perception, it was practically the first 10 minutes of the story repeated similarly 3 more times to fill 45 minutes. - I looked at the codecs - I didn't understand it - I spent day and night on it - it haunted my mind - I was lonely, my house felt like prison - but I was determined to look at it And that's virtually the entire story back to front, disregarding the discovery of the file in the beginning and the updating of it through Eldritch speak in the end. Oh, and the repetitive use of the word "codecs" got grating fast. Either the writer didn't actually know what they were trying to write so they repeated the story 4 times, or the writer wasn't human to begin with and exercised their repository of synonyms.

Moral of the story: stay off the deep web kids
@UndeadGhostGirl
@UndeadGhostGirl Жыл бұрын
Head canon; an eldritch and/or demonic entity from the beginning of time took the phrase "knowledge is power" literally and so resolved to get into mortal's heads in order to compel them to spill all their knowledge out in that entity's tongue, allowing it to consume that knowledge. Since it uses that mortal's mind, that mortal expresses their knowledge through various means. The entity would need different ways of updating it's codex; likely starting as a song or chant, evolving to glyphs, carvings, and statues, evolving to written scrolls, and then evolving to and stay at books and tomes, then a massive leap forward with digital data storage, then one more, slightly smaller leap into the cloud/internet. Also, while the entity may have once had some ambition towards which it was working, by this point it's probably become just as consumed by it's gluttony for knowledge as those it influences.

Repetitive, one character, codex doesn't seem malicious enough, and too much about feelings. The writer has talent, but should learn to better formulate plots. The story sounds like someone went into it with a good idea, but didn't know how to extend the plot.
