This video did really well. That's sick. The frame of "I did XYZ and here's what I learned" rather than "You should do X because Y" really works then

It's because of failure statement in the title. Most people fail in their endeavors and are happy when see they aren't alone. :) This year I wasn't able to finish my simulation app too and the reason is procrastination due watching too many videos on KZbin. Several years ago it was easier to handle procrastination, back then there wasn't so much content related to my interests.

It's ok, I’ve been working on a game in my free time. I'm a software engineer with a full-time job. After 6 months of developing it, I kind of realized it sucks. It looks cool, but I don’t have any further ideas for it. Now, I have another idea for a game-wish me luck! Also, you're doing great. At least you're trying, so don’t give up on your dreams!

Actually, I have worked more than 1 year until I realized the game idea was not that great xD. But y learn always. Since 2 weeks I am on a new project. Try, Retry, you cannot fail, you always learn :)

Loved this stuff, man, specially the subtle feeling of being better than others, really strikes a nerve😅. keep it real, this is great. Keep on sharing all you learn or whatever helps you your growth, everyone benefits, we all have the same struggles.

Love the knowledge man🔥 btw KZbin (and most other social networks) have been using neural networks/ machine learning for recommendations since day one (yt confirmed since 2015)

In programming, null is also a result, but you have already done more than nothing it's called progress. So, don't stop and keep pushing through! 💪 And btw I had the same problems as you and still have some.

I do not blame you at all for quitting that app. Even as someone who is about to graduate with a CS degree, I am doubtful I could get anywhere close to finishing an application on the scale you were making (especially alone) within a 6 month time span. For anyone reading, if you are starting out, I would highly recommend first learning something like JavaScript (use something like Canvas for drawing shapes and other graphics in JS to learn programming fundamentals). From there, begin learning how to make basic web layouts with HTML and pure CSS. Then after that, you can begin considering how to piece together single page web applications. Do a few single page static projects and go from there. That is my 2 cents. That 'focused too much on UI' is a great point as well. It doesn't matter if what I am making is polished and looks nice if its a turd. It's still a turd at the end of the day.

I heard that that is a good idea. Apparently Zuckerberg was lonely which is why he made Facebook.

Is it okay to learn via a live project?. I like the idea, I'd be more focused and paying more attention to small details... great insight

Yoo, just came across your channel through youtube recommendations and i must say this is some good stuff. Trying to get a YT channel going myself any tips?

- Do YT a lot (this is my 3rd YT channel, first one was in 2018, when I was still a small little lad) - Try to be authentic - Have some general gist of what the video is about. I write down points about the video, with some keyword sort of format. E.g. "Feb 2023, Andrew Tate, Lambo, HTML Doc, wanna make money story" and during recording it helps me remember what I wanted to yap about. - No such thing as perfection, improve with each video that you post and iterate over time. - Do it frequently (I am not good at this, as you can see by my channel's history of videos, where I constantly disappear for centuries) These are some suggestions, I hope they help

Don't mind if I ask: have you built any apps before this, or is this your first time? Also, do you plan to scope down this abandoned project into something more manageable and continue where you left off? I think software development is very tedious if the scope involve too many details. Even a simple app can have many conditions and requirements in order to work properly.

As I said, I abandoned it in August 2023. Just got bored of it and switched to the new shiny thing. While shiny object syndrome isn't good, the scope of this project was too large - AI recommendation system, database managing not only basic user data, but watching patterns too (for the recommendation system), ability to save to watch later, a creator payment system, placement of advertisements, etc. It was too much clearly. especially considering how I got focused on UI. It wasn't that deep though, I can just consider it as a good learning experience, for both best practices and coding skills.
