Guess: 8 minute video = 8 hours of footage = 8 days of editing. Great voice over: clear, concise and content rich. What a masterclass in how to do a video on problem vs solution(s). I don't remember subscribing but it was well worth it.

Same, I subbed and turned on notifications after his Wifi gameboy video I think. This is a gem find after recently buying an A7III. Thank you for the amazing app there oughta be

dont remember subbing either but "there oughta be" is the most accurate channel name
@JeffGeerlingАй бұрын
there oughta be more videos on this channel! But it gets even worse with newer models that don't have IR or connect via WiFi in different ways... right now I use Camrote but it is not very reliable, and loses connection too much (as you mention). This is with a6600 and A7CII

I've been needing this for years! Thank you! I even tried to build my own esp32 based solution, but the Bluetooth libraries were not well documented at all for no standard cases and it was way too much hassle.

Every Sony user seems to look for alternatives to the Wifi app. I somewhat hope that Sony will notice the reactions to my app and maybe implement something similar. Not much hope to be honest, but maybe a little...

I rather have a video with few views that I am proud of than a super-viral superficial one. But I have to admit that I was hoping to reach a few more people with this project...

Well done this is very impressive and is how camera manufacturers should impl ment remote controll in their own apps.
@diegosierra2 ай бұрын
After testing it, it works amazing on my A6100 and A7R3, although the manual focus pull isn't available in some lenses (but that's a lens software problem obviously). The only problem I had with it, is it seems to only allow one camera to be connected, so if you want to use two cameras the previous one must be removed from the app, even if it's off. Also the camera has to be paired from the app or it won't be added, so if you want to go back to the first camera, you need to unpair it from android bluetooth settings and then add it again from the app. I understand that this is just an edge case, I appreciate your work, and I'll be using it a lot! It's just I came across this little issue while testing so I figured I'd let you know.
@ThereOughtaBe2 ай бұрын
Glad to hear :) About your two issues: - Do the lenses that would not allow focus control have a dedicated MF switch? If so, make sure that the camera is set to MF, but that the lens is NOT set to MF. That switch disables all control from the camera, but from the lenses' point of view, even the remote control is some control from the camera. - The main problem for supporting two cameras is a rather stupid one: I only own one Sony camera with Bluetooth remote support, so I couldn't test multiple. And yes, they need to be paired from the app - this part is not that much about pairing in the sense of Bluetooth, but about telling Android to launch the app when a specific device appears. As far as I can tell this should work with multiple devices, but it will have to wait until I buy my next camera or until someone with two cameras and some Android programming skills comes along.

One that uses Bluetooth? Can you give me the name? Would like to direct other Apple users there as I am not planning on writing my app on iOS, too.

I was expecting a more complicated solution, like a esp32 connected via usb for power to trigger ir commands. But yours is better.

Yeah, this app was literally born because I wanted exactly this solution. I am almost sorry that there already is a project for a physical DIY Bluetooth remote (github.com/coral/freemote).
