I-X Indoor Amusement Park 2013

Easter Sunday at the I-X Indoor Amusement Park in Cleveland, Ohio, right next to Cleveland Hopkins Airport. New this year: a log flume called White Water and a zip line. Otherwise, most of the rides from last year are back. Filmed 3/31/13. Many thanks to the I-X workers for letting me do my thing!

I never saw an indoor amusement park that large. I never thought it was possible to extend the dome roof so wide and long. But with today's engineers, I guess anything's possible today.

Flat Ride Heaven. Good concept. If they can make the building bigger, then they could add bigger roller coasters and flat rides like those found at Cedar Point (Max Air, Power Tower, Sky Hawk). Almost like building an indoor stadium or blimp hanger for roller coasters.

Dear CoasterBob, I am sharing. “The trains ran [Thursday] for the first time, and they ran really well. We’ll be running them eight hours a day, seven days a week for the next four weeks.” Mr. Lococo added. “From a safety standpoint, we want to check all the safety devices, and we’ll be on the lookout for 600 faults that could happen and try to simulate them on our tests.” If you could get over to the Point, and get some photos along with video. Cedar Point said that they'll be putting together a video of the testing, and they've already posted some photos. I probably won't be back up there until opening weekend, but I'll be sure to get plenty of footage then.

I imagine there is a massive ventilating system as well. I know there are certain requirements that have to be met, such as the amount of times the air has to be completely cycled in a certain amount of time

I went to there on April 12th of last year and I rode the Tilt-a-Whirl. That ride made me sick, and when I got off I walked over to the nearest garbage can and threw up in it.

This place is better than some County fairs its sad to say. Rides Look Great though some has some bulbs out and you can tell that some of them have had a LED Refit Very nice and saves a lot of Power. Great Job

If you mean the Ferris Wheel ride...yes it is, though it's not usually running when there are trade shows or expos. Still haven't been on it though I've been going to the IX since I was little :)

In light of the Ohio fair accent a few weeks ago now being attributed to rust, maybe we should move these carnivals indoors where they aren't exposed to the elements. As it stands KGB, the manufacturer of the Fireball, has issued new inspection steps for the ride, but you can't cut open the beam and check for erosion. And the meter used to test for metal strength can only examine an inch of metal at a time. It's impossible to ensure the safety of these rides. So either bring them indoors, where the chances of corrosion is much lower, or...we go back to the think tank and come up with virtual rides. I've seen tests of the VR roller coaster and it is just as insane as a real one. As tech improves, with elements added like wind and vibration, you could create a safe simulator that's just as much of a thrill as the behemoths at the parks. Of course, the virtual can be TOO real, like Disney's Space at Epcot. I'm not sure of the mechanics of that ride, but I remember a former NASA official saying, "Not even astronauts go through what those riders go through." Is this really worth lives? If people want thrills, let them bungee jump or go white water rafting where they KNOW that they're putting themselves in peril. I didn't know the young man that died in Ohio on the Fireball, but I won't forget him or his face. I pray his death was not in vain and that it pushes heavier regulations onto these pop-up carnivals. Fireball passed inspection THIRTY TIMES, and the morning of, before it just fell apart like a piece of junk. A young man dead and more injured when all they wanted was to let off a little steam. There's got to be a safer way. I'd like 100% safe, but I know that isn't realistic. Still, can we just reduce accidents down to ZERO that "could have been prevented"? Just a thought...for Tyler. Oh, one note about the video. I notice a LOT of operators not even watching the rides. NOT GOOD!

Missnewbienoob A common denominator with the rust issue wasn’t just rust. Where has the ride been? No one wants to really look at the real cause. Clue, near the ocean for a significant amount of time. Furthermore new seats are required for the affected models.
