i20 AC PROBLEM || CRETA | VERNA | ELANTRA | VENUE (DIESEL) | SIMPLE SOLUTION | GAS LEAKAGE SYMPTOMS

i20, Creta, Verna, Elantra, Venue share same engine block (U2) and they all have same Air Conditioning Unit. The same compressor works for all the cars, with a different fan etc.
My car developed a problem with its Air Conditioner (AC) and the cooling started dropping slowly, as if the gas is leaking. It turned out to be not so simple problem as it may sound.
Its a common problem in i20 and Creta models, and the solution is simple but very tricky. This video is all about awareness of this problem so that the hassle and costs can be avoided.

PS: A lot of people ask for error codes for FATC. For your convenience, here they are:
00 = Normal
11 = In-car temparature sensor open
12 = In-car temparature sensor short
13 = Ambient temparature sensor open

Thank you so much for this video ,i hd been really struggling to fix my i20 AC issues for last 3-years. Everyone has same answer "Compressor is dead you need to change" costing almost 20k-24k. Even local mechanics denies to changes the valve...i just changed myself and went for gas refile.. My AC started working and no trips ... i drove 110 KM and trust me ..no trips.every minute cabin was nicely cool and gentle . Outside climate 40+. A very very imp point mentioned in video, please careful once they fill AC Gas...cooling coil must b vacuumed at first. Thank you very much Pulkit for this video.. :)

Was facing the same issue..but your video helped me a lot...I went to Hyundai showroom..they told me that compressor has been failed and the cost will be 25000 with GST and labour charges ..I was in shocked like you..so I get back from there...and started to find AC related video on KZbin..I watched your video and started to watch and it was useful and then I started to feel relaxed...then I went again to Hyundai showroom and asked them to change the compressor valve only..they changed the valve and get the positive result..and cost was 5500 with GST and labour charge. Very truly told. In Pakistan also ac technicians are making fool of customers like this, telling your compressor is faulty where as only its inlet solenoid valve is faulty. I am facing the same problem in my car toyota corrola 2010 model. I will try to buy new solenoid valve.

Bro very helpful video I am going to comment after my i20 gets serviced with valve….. Even my i20 same issue every technician said to change total AC unit which is costing around 35k ….. after checking with different technicians one guy said about valve…. Now I am going to change that one valve let’s hope for best.. One thing I can tell don’t just blindly go with technicians words ….. my AC getting cut off after 10 mins….. every part in AC is fine …. No leakage …. If you are getting cooling that means there is no leakage this is for sure … all you need to know that what exactly the problem is. …. So don’t just blindly fill the AC gas,checking the pressure n all …. Directly check with valve….

A very informative and worthy video. All car service center across the world any brand any nation is there only to rip the customer's pocket. I faced the same issue, but Hyundai Service Technician replaced the valve and AC was back and running. The cost of Valve change and gas filling came to 5700INR inclusive of everything. I totally agree how the service stations do all the fake talks I have faced the same issues earlier as well. Depends on the service stations. but very informative video.

You have shared very important video. Good information . Presently i am also facing problem with my elite i 20 A.C. I also visited Hyundai service center but after observing that their me mechanics even don't know how to check the system. Just they were trying trial and error method. Hence I asked them to stop the work and came back. Even after spending 6 hrs they could not detect fault.

I have posted the comment regarding my experience about service station of Hyundai. I was facing problem with blower speed. Hyundai persons could not detect it and then after suggested me to replace FOTC module it is AC control unit and cost of replacement was told near about 11500 /- . I denied and came back. Next day I undergone owners manual in detail and noticed that simply a single fuse of 10 amps was missing from fuse panel i replaced it and now every thing of AC control working perfectly. Think other wise i would have to spend 11500 . How we can trust Hyundai service centre. Note:- I am electrical engineer and hence could understand the things . What about other customers ?

Actually in new models of Hyundai , there is valve system.but in old models there are no any value which can be replaced so I decided to change my compressor which cost was 14680 rs. Please insure that your condenser is ok. There is no any leakage in cooking pipe lines. And also.please check that your compressor shouldn't release black carbon.

Sir I have 2008 verna crdi. I have the same problem where there is no cooling. If i switch on the ac only air comes out like a fan. I have the changed the compressor from a local mechani. After 2 months same problem of not cooling. I am much worried about this. Whether the valve is available for 2008 model? Pls guide me. Many thanks.

Bhai, thanks for information. Mere pass i20 diesel 2009 asta model hai.2 saal pahle mere sath yahi problem hua tha.Dash board khol kar andar se cooling coil nikali, jo damage thi,wo change kar li.AC filter bhi change kiya. Cooling thik hai, lekin night me aur din me temp 30 degree ke andar me ac perfect cooling deta hai. above 30 degree ac bahut cum cooling karta hai. Kya problem ho sakta hai. AC ka fuse,gas thik hai.Condenser bhi thik hai. Samaj me nahi aa raha hai. Aap ko kya lagta hai. Pls reply.

Well explained and simple presentation . My santro is going through poor cooling and trying figure out the actual cause . Huyndai ,as usual , want to replace compressor . My local mechanic gen servicing to fix it ( rs 2200) . But still have same issue . I think it is low in gas but local shop do not have a working pressure gauge . I am trying locate a good guy in bangalore . If you know some one , please suggest

I own Elite i20 2014 model and AC isn`t working since yesterday. Mechanic says to change the valve as elite i20 has got this problem and they replace nearly 8 valves for i20 in a month. Saw a lot of videos in youtube as i was so confused what to do and where to go as i was afraid of the expenses & no results. Now i think Value is the culprit here, i will be getting it replaced for now and update you with the result.

Pulkit Kumar Pulkit Kumar In my case Evaporator got leakage. Got it replaced and now fine. it cost me 3500/- for evaporator 1750/- for service, 1400/- to refill gas and 1950/- for valve.

Hi Pulkit Boss, Great to watch your video and get to know things. Just if you can help - I have Verna 2012, 1.6 Diesel model with Ac tripping problem specially when the car is moving (typically RPM >=1200 or so) i.e. majority of times it works on idle. Can you tell me if the compressor in 2012 model would be clutch less and/or what can be done.
