And pls make sure that your anchor’s hair is not in her face. She asked great questions and conducted herself professionally but her hair said I’m a teenager pretending to be an adult. Are there no PR ppl in Israel? … smh…. Great content, but the look of things as you know matters… as a tv professional myself I found myself cringing and embarrassed for i24. 😢

Yes. It was a Jewish state before being overrun by invaders in around 630 CE. Still, Jews remained there throughout history, which was documented by Mark Twain more than a hundred years ago. It was in the hands of the Ottoman Empire for a while and then the British took over control of the region. The area was almost always referred to as "the Levant", btw, not "Palestine". In fact, at no time up to this point or after was there ever an Arab state in the Levant. It was after it became a British Mandate that Arabs from Egypt, Jordan, and Syria began to arrive in the region. The British, after WWII, when the idea of reestablishing the Jewish state caught on worldwide and Israel was born out of a vote by the United Nations. That was before 1948 and the history is, of course, considerably more complex, but typing it all out on a phone is a bit difficult.

One more thing. If you go to the thousands of archaeological sites throughout Israel you will find artifacts from the Jews who lived there. You will also find many Roman artifacts, but they left them everywhere from England to Egypt. You won't find a single Palestinian artifact. Isn't that interesting for a people who claim to be indigenous to the region? I find it interesting.

(3) At Rishon-Le־Zion a man and a woman were fined the equivalent of $4,000, ordered to place their home at the Hagana's disposal and warned to assure the return from England of their 18 year old son, whom they had sent there by air. A Hagana "cburt" similarly directed that unless the son returned within six weeks an additional $8,000 fine would be imposed, along with other penalties.
