Having no SMT starts to hurt in some Games like Cyberpunk where 4 Threads are not enough. If you take a 2600k things start to improve quite a bit especially for the low 1%. Its crazy that a 10 Year old Chip can still totaly be used for gaming if you are fine in the 30-60fps region, where you will end up most of the time for gpu bound 4k gaming nevertheless.

I play vanguard, fortnite, minecraft, ark, and they can all run highish settings getting 60 GPS, with some tweaking I can get a stable 75 in just abt any game. Forza horizon runs exceptionally well at 1440p getting an average of 50-60 fps on ultra preset. I'm still satisfied with my 10 year old cpu. Yes it's bottlenecked but in most games it's minimal.. 10 percent bottleneck maybe after I've overcooked my cpu and tweaked settings.

This is the cpu I put in my first build(that I actually built myself) in 2011. Back then I would research processors on my downtime at work, and this was the one I settled on. I also ended up getting two gtx 480s that I used in sli, I got them for 300$ each open box at microcenter then used a 10% off coupon bringing them down to 530$. Two 480s at the time destroyed a 580 in several games and was about equal to a 680(aside from some games preffering to work on a single 480, but many worked better with sli enabled) anyways I still use this processor and pc today, but it now has a gtx 970 in it, and most likely will soon have a gtx 1070 or 1080 in it. Cheers.

Basing on RDR2 results, we can say that a CPU (in this case i5 2500K loses about 5,5% performance per year in gaming, while a GPU loses about 10% performance per year, and all this results are in "low" resolution (1080P)and medium settings so at high resolution a CPU loses less performances. So that's the final proof that when you make a gaming PC the most of your budget have to go to GPU. So people that make PC for 1500€$ with 5600x and 3070 are a bit stupid when they can make a PC for only 1000€$ with 10400/3600/11400 with similar performancs in gaming

If you need to put something like this together get a 2600K. Double the threads and it makes a *BIG* differance.

@m8x425 3 жыл бұрын
A big reason the 2500k is getting decimated is because it lacks threads. I'd like to see a CPU like the Core i7-3930k, E5-1660, or E5-2687 which has 6 or 8 cores with Hyperthreading because these CPU's would show how the Sandy Bridge Architecture is holding up against Rocket Lake or Zen 3.
