My last build uses an i7-2600K, still going strong for my needs after all these years. But then, just for the sake of having a new computer, it's been too long, I decided to build, a few weeks ago, a new computer, and I chose the i9-14900K. The new Intel was about to be released, and the AMD X3D were more expensive. My gaming needs are very occasional and even my office needs are not strong, the i7-2600K still can suit most of my needs. Only once in a while I want to have a better computer and now it will be my new i9-14900K. Both use the same case, an Antec Lanboy Air; I liked this case so much back then (2011) that I bought another in 2013 (black limited edition) and held it in its original box until now. It cannot fit big cards though or too big CPU air coolers. My plan is to wait for the nvidia 50 series or maybe buy soon a 4070 ti super.

@@davidfox326 That is correct, but intels market share is going downhill at an accelerating phase. Also in servers, yes intel has more market share, but AMD makes more money in servers than intel. Intel has to give out massive discounts, otherwise the customers dont want their crap. Xeon has been getting sever beating 7 years in a row by AMD EPYC.

Very impressive AMD results. Clearly the winner in every test for framerate and nearly identical power/temps between the two. One thing I noticed is in some games the GPU ran significantly lower utilization with the Intel CPU. Does anyone know why that is? I'm just trying to learn.

it is a consequence, the fewer frames a processor can manage, the less the video card will be used (because it will have to generate fewer frames)

I Skipped 13900 &14900 for the resent issues And bought i9-12900KS @5.3 ALL P-Cores & 4.2All E-Cores Ring 4.2 I am so happy with it BUT AMD WOW Hats OFF to you and last AMD CPU i owned was the Athlon 1GZ in 1999 thats 25 years ago and i may go back to AMD if they keep this up.

I’m thankful for the comparisons made in these types of videos. First of all… Who buys a high-end CPU to play at 1080p? Almost everyone with an RTX 4090 will buy this type of GPU and CPU to play at 4K resolutions, so it’s not a realistic scenario. Anyone with enough money to buy these kinds of things won’t be playing at 1080p when they have the option of higher resolutions. And it's clear that at a resolution like 4K, the difference between almost all processors is minimal or even nearly imperceptible. Second, both the Intel 285K and the Ryzen 9 9950X will lose to the 9800X3D in gaming because they are designed for that purpose. However, in scenarios where more CPU usage is required, both CPUs will outperform the X3D because they are built for productivity, with more cores and consequently higher power consumption. So yes, these are unrealistic tests that don’t really measure a CPU’s performance- the FPS in a game won’t determine how it performs in other tasks.

Tell me just 1 Productivity where U285K actually matters more when paired with RTX 4090 against 9800x3D with the same 4090. Most productivity nowadays are using GPU instead of CPU, unless you're compiling Code. You name it! Photoshop ? GPU matters more Video editing? Premiere Pro? After Effects? DaVinci Resolve? as long as 4090 is there, a mere 10700K is more than enough for editing at 4K HDR 120 FPS 3D Modelling? Blender? Maya? Houdini? ZBrush? They all make use more GPU nowadays instead of CPU. Nobody renders or edit a scene with CPU only

I really don't understand how Intel fans are coping with the whole "using a 4090 to play at 1080p" thing. A lot of these games aren't even hitting the 144fps mark to saturate even a 1080p 144hz panel. Believe it or not, people can see framerates above 60fps. Believe it or not, people do want to play at high refresh rates. I would totally justify using a system as powerful as a 9800X3D/4090 one in a 240hz 1080p setup.

BRUTAL , btw just look at the usage of the rtx 4090 in some games when the intel is a little bit closer , it's bcs it's a gpu limited scenario , if they lowered the settings more or use the upcoming rtx 5090 the gap will get wider , that's how good the 9800x3d vs intel , plus you can easily do overclocking to 5.6ghz instead of 5.20 and you will gain another 5 to 10% more fps , so with the oc and the no gpu limited scenario you can expect + 40to 45% more performance than intel with some games up to +80% , this is insane .... .

I would like to offer you a different perspective on this comparison. I have only been using AMD Ryzen series processors since the day they first came out. During this period, we have witnessed AMD's competition with Intel. What made Intel superior was that it always worked more stably and it still does. I have experienced various problems with every AMD series I have used, even if these are not very big problems, I know that Intel does not experience many of these. However, the real problem we will have from this point on is that AMD may no longer feel the need to improve itself since it dominates the gaming industry and may enter a position where Intel used to hold this industry in its hands and demand big money by offering us low-end processors. I hope that this does not happen and AMD continues to push itself even further with its new series.

Lol 285K is getting brutalized at a higher platform cost to boot. Looking at the RAM and I can tell you there's a much smaller gap between these too. 6000MT is enough to slow down 13/14th gen and the newer 285K should realistically be running at 8000MT+ XMP settings

10900k and 13900k with tuned ram were easily the fastest gaming chips of their time but now not even ultra tuned ram can help beat 9800x3d Bdie tuned 10900k still slaps though, it's a bit better than 5700x3d. Going to last for 3-4 years at least

It was a real 10 cores and none of this silliness with E cores or P cores. the 9800X3D is crazy fast, literally ZERO effeort which makes it the best for 90% of people shoot, Pyrologie used to use 5800X3D with purposefully bad RAM and got killer performance

is not as it seems, a lot of those are not practical, for example, no one renders anything using Cinebench or 3dmark, although in some real world scenarios the intel chip wins, like code compilation and 7z compression, in others lose even to the x3d, like H265 video compression and 7z decompression, so is not a clear cut either, it depends on the workload (on the ones that wins, it truly wins, I grant that)
