There's an option in training mode that highlights your character red during special cancel frames, and blue during super cancel frames. This really should have been included in the video.

9:45 fucking this!!! the frame meter made it so easy and so much more fun to learn frame data. I've been aware of it for a long time, but i never used it to learn chaaracters the way i do with this game. For example, i was trying to figure out what to do after Chun's EX leg, which gives me 29 F advantage, then by just looking at certain moves frame data and active frames i could figure out something to do, which is dash (19f) and 4HP(8F starter, 6 active frames) Surely you could figure this out by just experimenting, but it felt so much more fun to do it this way. It felt like i was using my tiny little brain.

Marisa is another character I'm interested in too but am still working on her (somehow better at JP than Marisa lol. Then with Dhalsim and Zangief, the former seemed kinda fun + his trial modes were fun, and the latter is admittedly fun which is bizarre cuz I've never liked Gief as a character and I still don't but idk. @ArtlessIb Жыл бұрын
You probably do it without realising. It's when you interrupt one move with another. Every move has the following frame structure. Startup (fist moves towards opponent) Active (fist hits opponent), Recovery (fist returns to starting position). You can skip or 'cancel' the recovery frames of certain moves by inputting a special move before the first one has ended, and thats how cancel combos work.

What's really crazy about this game and "combos" though is the window in which you have to string one thing into another. You have like a tenth of a second to push the button, if you do it before or after you didn't "combo." So weird, coming from really only having played Mortal Kombat, where combos are more or less "these buttons work one right after another"
