I wish they would fix one thing. After a juggle state Flash Kick into L3 cancel you are +7, but get nothing good after due to long recovery. It feels like punishment and should allow an OD Flash Kick or any other extension to cap it off. I have some set ups after, but none are reliable. That said, SF6 Guile is my favorite version of him ever. I thought for sure I'd main Ken, but Guile is it.

Couple things to note: 1. I thought that JWong would play Guile because he punishes rash decisions like a MFer. 2. 6:50 I am so disappointed that this epic music did not get the GigaChad ending. 3. 10:52 What a godlike combo. So fun to watch.

@@yuh2866 A few reasons. Mostly, I like the lower count of special inputs for him, so it makes him feel a lot smoother to play for me. But I would be lying if I said the hair doesn't matter at all. He's extremely satisfying for me to play. I enjoy good neutral, and combos are exciting, but not what is the most fun for me. Neutral often means a back and forth, looking openings. Sure, a good combo means you've found one and are capitalizing on it. But for me, I just enjoy that patient, thorough gameplay that Guile offers. Of course, lots of other characters are great, too. Guile's just my favorite. (At least for now.)

Respect. Guile was actually toned down A LOT for CE. In SF2: The World Warrior he was monstrous and definitely too much. But he took a very steep fall in Champion Edition.

I'm thinking about playing Guile. Anyone know some good beginner guides for him? The only other thing that stops me from playing him is that he's a charge character and I need to work on charge inputs. I suck at them lol

He has high execution. I main guile and have been using charge characters a long time. But some of the combos require really tight charge times. It’s fun though. As a personal challenge and to test perseverance.

Try getting through all of his Intermediate trails without too much trouble. This will give you a good idea on charge times in combos. Also in training mode turn cancel timing display on. Guile will turn red 🔴 when the cancel window is open during his attack. Blue 🔵 when the cancel window for super arts is open during his attack. This will really help you learn how long you have to charge in combo attacks. Also checkout Nephew’s Guile road to Master rank video. It has a really good breakdown of Guile tactics at the beginning before he starts playing matches. Good information to know.

I believe you because I fought a Diamond rank Guile the other day & my guile is still ★platinum rank. I won the match because I had better combo punishment. He didn’t really do any combos. Just booms, flash and your occasional Ⓜ️✊,Ⓜ️✊→⬇️⬆️🥾. He was very patient so I understand how he got to that rank. If I didn’t also play Guile I see how someone could get impatient, and fall for his tactics. Definitely a classic OG Guile player.

Every fighting game is like that really. Risk gets minimised as you climb up the ranks. The middle ranks are always the messiest since you're tested on your ability to deal with an onslaught of all the games mechanics and character gimmicks but ultimately its also where you learn the importance of defence and allowing the opponent to hang themselves.

What are you struggling with? I'm guessing you have the same problem with his lvl 1 then. Even in open play? What input device do you use? It's not that hard - you're already constantly doing half the motion for booms and FKs so it's just a case of training your brain to consciously do 2 sets of motions before you press a button. It's more a muscle memory thing than any inherent issue that can't be overcome.
