@@SlickRick4EVER Your problem is your lack of self confidence, and self love. Trust me. A fighting game? 1v1? The lack of Emotional self control of Gamers? Ha! The best way to get into fighting games is to find one you love so much winning and losing means nothing. Hell in fact you never play to win, you simply react to the competition, you learn something everyday, and before you know it, you can't help but Win that was never your goal. Then you take all that method of thinking, the knowledge of the game Chemistry of your favorite game and just play something new and adapt. Mind you, 2D fighters and 3D fighters are so different, what I said won't work unless you have the most open of minds to change your perception based on what is in front of you, and Adapt. A lot of games at different, but many games of the same type play similarly. 🤔

Enjoy your games! The joy of fighting games is "discovery". If you follow Dota, you might be familiar with NoTail's quote: "some of the best games are with you losing". To elaborate on it further, when you lose you discover more. Not just about your game, but also of yourself and it feels good to keep discovering things and continue to develop yourself further

"I just like playing, I don't care if the other player is better". I feel like this separates people like JWongg from a lot of players, myself included. I love fighting games and have played them since I was like..7. My first memory of fighting games was dicking around On Killer Instinct on SNES (before anyone thinks I’m an old head, I’m 25). My first hardcore game was VF4. I’ve been a fan of them my whole life. That being said, if I had the choice between playing a similarly skilled player but having to wait an extended amount of time or playing the expert level higher skilled player now, I’d rather wait. Especially with fighting games like Guilty Gear and the Marvel series (and really all the V.S ones too including Skullgirls), playing against dudes and chicks who know how to land split second combo resets and crazy infinites and can teabag you while killing you with just assist characters is not fun. Players that have a firm grasp on gattlings and magic series to rip your spine a new asshole while you’re just trying to land SOMETHING is not fun IMO. The most fun I’ve had in fighting games is when I play someone where it’s close and borderline down to the wire. That’s where it’s most inten and where I have the most fun. Should people play whatever the fuck they want? Hell yeah. Absolutely. For people like myself though, it’s a bit more of a struggle though.

It should be about what appeals to you. Do you like the design do the characters look cool? Alot of of factors come into play.
@syxxvralrock57593 жыл бұрын
Whatever game you like that you will be willing to sit down and play through trials and training mode to a degree that combos flow out of your character naturally. All of the reasoning above is good but he never really said anything about FGC reasoning. I am not a pro player but the reason why Jwong is very good is his stage fright is minimal. When you are playing in a tournament whether it's online or in real life there is an exposure factor and that additional pressure can make you miss things that you 'know' but haven't recorded to your muscles. The difference between a casual fighter and a pro player is the consistency in them remembering a key combo, and recognizing when they need to use it. A casual fighter might be good enough to see an opening in combat and get a counter blow or a sneak attack in but they will not be able to capitalize on it for this reason. All of this leads back to the previous statement which is, did you iron your basics down to that degree? A simplified game like this new Guilty Gear still has key combos and because the limit is so small it does mean that it's less for you to memorize so that way you can spend more time learning what makes other characters good or bad against your character. Jwong previously talked about KF15 but if you are a new viewer to the channel and you haven't watched him clear all the trials for all characters in it and see him put in the practice, and when/if he does play it will be wondering how he got so sick and if it's a good time to get into it, you'll realize he put a couple of months into training and that's why, so any time after he finished those trials was 'when' for him. For a person playing 1 character it will be when you master that 1 character. Usually 1 character at a time is best.

Moment 37 was important for fans, fighting games and the whole gaming industry all together. We wouldn't have eports today as we know it without moment 37. Me as a fan and as a gamer owes a huge thanks to You Justin Wong and Diago Umehara. You 2 helped change the course of history. Fighting games were close to being a dead genre with the death of the arcade scene until moment 37 happened. Because of moment 37 we got sf4, esports and everything that came after.

I have BBTag, Skullgirls, SFV, Tekken 7, USF4, Virtua Fighter 5, DragonBall FighterZ, Smash Melee, Smash Brawl, MK11, MK10, and even Naruto Shippuden UNS 4! All these games taught me that there is no way I'm going to be good right off the bat. But that's what makes fighting games so fun! You can challenge yourself to learn and grow with your favorite character. Eventually, you'll get to a point where you could fight somebody new to the game and realizing how far you've come from that point in time. Fighting games are an amazing way to achieve a sense of "controlling your thoughts and emotions!" Like Max said: if the game looks awesome, then go for it. Worst case scenario, it wasn't for you and there's probably a better game out there.

So that is sometimes a factor that you cannot cope up with, but of you have passion for the game, the chars, lore or of you like the game overall because of the history it carries on its back, everything is ok. So the meta isnt "which character is the best" but instead "which character is the best in this year's settings." So like, maybe 2022 is Damage 1, but slow timer. Maybe 2023 is 60 seconds normal timer, but max damage to force rapid frantic matches. That would be the coolest thing to watch and play in.

"I just like playing, I don't care if the other player is better". Cool, but you're Justin Wong, you just picking up the game you are better than 80% of us just from input execution and legacy knowledge.

Partly, I think: It sucks to get bodied heavily time and again, but that's where finding that game that you enjoy enough to lab and research constantly is about.

@@nybxcrotona it can be hard to enjoy a game enough to care about labbing when you're getting destroyed. If you feel you can never press buttons you won't be able to lab against that since you won't have the knowledge and execution to record the blockstrings and mixups and practice against them. Anyway my point was that JW is miles ahead of any true newbie, even when he plays a completely new game.
