Us workers pay the union $3,000,000 a month in union dues. When the first offer came out, that John Holden endorsed, members had questions about the details of the contract. Goldens response was read the 300 plus pages yourself and make a decision. He has no problem going to the media and negotiating when it suits him. He's know that the return of the pension wasn't on the table since when negotiations started in the summer but just admitted to it a few days ago. I think it's time for negotiations to be live streamed so members can see if our hard earned money is being used wisely.

@@chrisevenson9454neither did the majority of the Union members. They locked out thousands of members by holding a re-vote while members were out of town on Christmas break, and put an online-voting system in place that would not let thousands log in to vote; they changed the vote counting process by keeping the normal union staff and shop stewards from counting votes, and brought in national IAM staff to count the votes... the same national Union that was colluding with Boeing in negotiating in secret behind thee backs of the Union members in 2013; and at the end of all of it, the company cut separate checks for the ratification bonus immediately upon the results of the count instead of putting it on the next regular paycheck, which is something I've never seen Boeing do with any other bonus in 25 years. Clearly Boeing wanted employees to start spending that bonus, to lock in a 'no-takesie-backsies' position. The entire thing was corrupt.

I don't get all you people hung up on the BCERP. Traditional pensions are dead. Boeing gave everybody involved in that contract a giant signing bonus plus 10% SCRC year one, 10% SCRC year 2, 6% SCRC year 3, and 4% SCRC ever year after that! If you were smart, you turned that money into a lot more money, if you weren't oh well. If by some miracle Boeing did decide to implement a traditional pension it wouldn't be retroactive because you've already been paid for those years. More money in our SCRC is a reasonable alternative to a traditional pension If you're not a complete dumb@$$.

The Board has no idea what it is Boeing does. All they are interested in is counting Beans. They have no interest in Safety or quality. I do agree that the pensions will probably not be reinstated. But the last and final offer of 30% raise over the next four years corresponds to 12%, 6%, 6%, 6%. I am a level 4 machinist and get paid $24/hr. 12% of $24.00 dollars ($2.88) is such a negligible amount it is insulting. We build Airplanes, we do not flip burgers. We make mistakes, people die (well, the ~ 250 people were a design mistake, the door was on us). A burger flipper makes a mistake, your order gets messed up. I do not know what Airbus pays their machinist, but I am sure they can afford to live. I can't. And neither can the other machinists. The Union is asking for 40% raise over three years. That would correspond to 20%, 10%, 10%. Those numbers are better, I probably could afford my mortgage. All they would need to do is fire managers who do nothing and pull in $200K a year.

As a ex-president of my local, being greedy about a pension will make or break your union. People are starting to lose their Healthcare, please make better decisions for your members. If you don't believe me look up Easter Airlines strike of 1989. People lost their jobs, homes, due to the stresses of the actions of their leaders 14 people have committed suicide. If you have some heart left in you be the leader that your people believe you to be and at times we win some and we lose some. Pensions are dying out everywhere, don't let your pride get in the way of messing up thousand of people's lives. I send you guys all the positivity, because this is where things can get ugly for the IAM. Boeing has the money to out source and have pratt or collins build what you guys are making. They will be OK for a year or more to have them build their stuff while all the workers at your local union will suffer from these actions. You guys are given a 30% increase, that speaks for itself. Educate your people to put atleast 5% of that a month on the side to a Roth IRA so you can atleast retire happy. I do understand you guys are fighting for a lot more than just the pension, but to my understanding you have a great contract going for your members.

Let's vote - how many union members still have false hope the pension will be back. People working in Boeing around me do not expect pensions since before the strike - they want reasonable pay and medical benefits, 90% of US pensioners are government employees. Despite union strikes every 4 years, pensions are still inevitably gone. Noting to guilt, no one to blame - it is just because of aging society, it is just we will not die at 60 and have 6 children anymore. Acceptable to ask to raise wages and health benefits but it is just a waste of time for the 'impossible' pension.

So why didnt the company's second offer actually add anything worth voting on? If they actually made a real wage increase and better concessions it would have been voted on and likely approved. Not everyone is holding out for the Pension but i AM holding out for a better offer than whats on the table because whats on the table is disrespect dogshit for our brothers and sisters. This is our demands 1) reinstate the pention 2) a 40% increase in pay. 3) a bonus program that will pay every employee a 5%-10% annually. 4) an additional week of vacation, sick leave and a week of personal time. 5) New employees top out in their pay grade I 4 years. 6) All employees need better medical coverage.
