I've been listening to this on repeat and it's safe to say that Sister Ray by Foxes is one of my favourite songs of 2021. It is an anthemic and glittery synth-laden dance banger that not only is a nod to The Velvet Underground's song of the same name, but also is about longing for a sense of euphoria and liberation, especially in the nocturnal setting, while the world remains in a lockdown. Foxes never ceases to amaze me and she did right in choosing this Robyn-influenced song as the lead single from her third album, The Kick, set to be released next year.
