nrbknives.com/news/ One of the updates here mentions his switching to US manufacturing
@iamnotarealboy6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review my guy :^) Few things I do want to mention though. This is just a prototype, many issues with it will be fixed, in it's current state it has blade rub and tap, due to faulty zen pins, it causes increased handle play, and bad handle gap, which will be fixed on the live blade prototype. The final version will have beadblasted and anodized handles, so it should be a good bit more grippy, I also switched spacer material from steel, to aluminum, so it should be about 4.8oz, making it more neutral. I'll definitely try to fix the pinching issue with the zen cups, and find a way to round off the zen pin a bit more. This is the very first one ever made, I kind of figured it would have issues, I am still learning, but I'm confident the final version will have fixed every potential issue. Thanks for your input!

I'm sorry, I won't be shipping internationally unless it's legal to own, I've had issues with customers recently. If you have a friend in the US, they may be willing to proxy. I'll have the signup list in about 2-3 weeks, with a 4-6 week wait for the finished product.

Ok you got me there. Maybe not a good example. Still I think that manufacturing in china would be good for more affordable quality balisongs. Not sure how it is in the US but here in the netherlands anything that takes a lot of time to produce like clothing is produced in china too keep costs low, and then imported. Just getting everything drilled in china, shipping it back and putting it together in US is most likely cheaper. Making a balisong requires materials. G10, carbon fiber, titanium etc. Prices are about the same in all countries for materials. It is really only the cost for the work that they can save money on. In a recent video by palethius about his new balisong he tells this himself. Most costs are hours spend manufactering and finetuning. But I'm no balisong designer. Just some idea's I got after watching his video and the endless clone discussion going on. Anyway: notification for a new tutorial. Got to check it out!

Decent review. Just a shame you decided to paint a maker who openly supports counterfeiting in a positive light.
@balismith88306 жыл бұрын
50 Blades of Grey honestly man clones are a good alternative for kids and people who live outside America, it's not really affecting the economy as their producing the same runs and making the same money they always have, let the free market decide.
@50bladesofgrey436 жыл бұрын
BaliSmith please provide one good reason why a balisong needs to be a clone. What's the point of making a counterfeit? If a company can make a clone then they are more than capable of making an original design FOR THE SAME PRICE. But they don't because that's not the point of clones. The point of clones is to take advantage of people who want to have the real thing and make a quick buck in the process off of an already popular design.
@moslimislam57146 жыл бұрын
The point is the 300 dollar difference. That is is 300 dollar reason to buy a clone.
@balismith88306 жыл бұрын
50 Blades of Grey I'll level with you man I wish I could buy an original Balisong instead of a clone, I hear how amazing they are and if I could I would love to own one, the thing is legality, shipping and cost for me as a consumer, to have an American made Balisong insured and shipped through a proxy across the world is a hell of a price and a hell of a risk more so because of that price, it just bugs me that people get bashed on for reviewing and using them when in reality sometimes its the only option available especially to us Europeans, when this argument is mainly raging in America I think you guys forget the economics of it as a consumer outside of the states, I don't want to offend or disrespect anybody's workmanship, I just wanna flip.
@50bladesofgrey436 жыл бұрын
Did either of you even bother to read my comment? These companies making clones can make an original design for the SAME EXACT PRICE they are selling clones at. Stop defending thievery.
