David voice speaking is so unbelievable different from singing! It’s amazing! What a voice! That’s why never will be a time for music like 70’s,80’s and 90’s were for sure! Great singers! Great songs!

Bowie had a unique elegance. Currently, unfortunately there is no one who can come close to him.

Claim to fame... I'm in that audience somewhere! LOL. But God! Bowie was beyond superb. Even as a grown man, I don't mind admitting that I miss him and his music. :-(

What was the exact date of this concert, LJD? Given what I thought of him, back in the early-70s, I didn't think that I would miss him as much as I do. He was certainly exceptional in every sense of the word.

@@bt5526 Hi JB. The exact date was *either* 26th *or* 27th June 2000. (I keep thinking it just *can't* be over 20 years ago, but sadly, it is!) And it was in the BBC's Radio Theatre at Portland Place in London. I went down with my mate Adam, and we got backstage passes because Adam's dad knew Bowie. In fact he used to play keyboards for Bowie in the 1960's and 70's. So we thought we were really cool! LOL. We used to go watching a lot of _'big names'_ (of their day) in concert, or at LP launches etc. Elton John, Roxy Music, The Who, The Stones, Rod Stewart etc. But Bowie was... I was going to say _'weird'_ but that's not the right word. Just as a man, even off stage, he had a kind of aura about him. The way he talked, the way he moved, even just the way he sat and drank a cup of tea, or how he climbed into a car and stuff. Hard to explain really. We used to have some great times down in London though. (I mean me and my mate, not me and Bowie! LMAO)

@@ljdmanxfella5793 Very nice. I'm not sure when you saw some of the artists in your list, but Roxy Music and (early) Elton John would've been fantastic. Ddi you ever get to see Genesis in the Gabriel era? As for Bowie, I definitely preferred what he did after the glam era faded. His 'Heroes' album, for example, contains contains some of what I consider to be his best work.

@@bt5526 Apologies for writing so much. It's just that music is, and always has been a real passion of mine. At least good music anyway! So my favourite era of Elton John's was probably from around the release of _'A Single Man'_ in '78, through to _'Reg Strikes Back'_ in '88. I mean I liked the odd singles before and after that era, but that was him at his best imo. Obviously it's all down to personal tastes and preferences. But in all honesty, I just wish he'd retired and exited from touring at least, as far back as 2001/2002. Because to my mind, that's when his (decent singing) voice went. The best Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry era for me, was again very late 70's and throughout the 80's. Something I *did* discover during that era, was how genuinely insecure all these people were, when not on stage or not performing. Bryan Ferry was _'Mr Slick & Style'_ on stage, but a complete nervous wreck when he had to meet ordinary people away from the stage. I vividly remember watching his hand, physically shaking as he was signing autographs for a couple of women at the launch party of the _'Avalon'_ album. He was wearing a really expensive Armani suit... with huge puddles of sweat under each arm. Man it was dripping off him. Even so, he seemed a fairly nice guy. Just insecure. It's weird to think that Jerry (Hall) is now married to wrinkly old Rupert Murdoch! Although I never got to meet, or see Genesis while Peter Gabriel was still with them, I did get to meet them later, and then met Gabriel a couple of times when he was promoting _"So"_ in the summer of '86. I liked a lot of his earlier music, but I must admit, I only went along in '86 because I knew Kate Bush was going to be there... and I had a major crush on her at the time. The only one who stands out in my memory from Genesis, was Tony Banks. And that's on account of him being a really sulky little shit! LOL Really pompous and arrogant. The rest of the band were great. Banks seemed to think he was some kind of Mozart or Beethoven character, having to _'slum it'_ with the riff-raff who made up the rest of the band. Seriously, I swear to God he had his own _'nanny'_ who went on tour with him, fetching him this and bringing him that. I was only young at the time, but I just wanted to punch him so hard! LMAO. All good memories though. Again, apologies for rabbiting on so much. Cheers anyway bud.

This is not America (Sha, la, la, la, la) A little piece of you The little peace in me Will die (this is not a miracle) For this is not America Blossom fails to bloom this season Promise not to stare Too long (this is not America) For this is not the miracle There was a time A storm that blew so pure For this could be the biggest sky And I could have the faintest idea For this is not America (Sha, la, la, la, la) (Sha, la, la, la, la) (Sha, la, la, la, la) This is not America (no) This is not (sha, la, la, la, la) Snowman melting from the inside Falcon spirals To the ground (this could be the biggest sky) So bloody red, tomorrow's clouds A little piece of you The little piece in me Will die (this could be a miracle) For this is not America There was a time A wind that blew so young For this could be the biggest sky And I could have the faintest idea For this is not America (Sha, la, la, la, la) (Sha, la, la, la, la) (Sha, la, la, la, la) This is not America (no) This is not (sha, la, la, la) This is not America (no) This is not This is not America (no) This is not (sha, la, la, la)
