Dude! This position is how you START! Any proper school in classical guitar. That's how you see if a guitar player had classical training or not. Even some rock guitarists try to keep the neck angled high. It's just that most people are self-taught or taught by friends/amateurs/musicians with no formal training. And it's actually healthier and easier on your wrist and finger tendons.

I'm not a music teacher 😅, I teach ESL and I'm from Brazil. Some say "shopin" there and others "shopun" I'm pretty sure I said both 🤔 just in case
