He didn't win because he doesn't have a younger brother dying of italian mac and cheese disease, a father who left him, a mother who beat him, a dog who has 2.5 legs, a kidney malfunction, a loss of hair, or an estranged uncle who abused him as a kid.

Marcin is epic. Sadly, there's a difference between "being extremely skilled" and "pleasing the crowd", and winning a competition like this comes down to what the crowd is actually able to recognize and appreciate in a performance. I'm sure the musicians in the comments here agree, Marcin is seriously good.

He is. I've been studying guitar for 8 years now, most musicians that participate in got talent are complete crap, even those that pass. But Marcin, he's actually good, like really good. I first knew him from a video when he was 15 years old (my age) playing at his conservatory the Paganini caprice nº 24 on guitar. I said, yeah he's very good. Then I saw some videos of him now. But that's why I tell everyone that classical education is important, it gives you the technique you need.

As someone who's been a musician (nowhere near professional level) for the majority of my life... This is beyond insane. To take classical pieces like that, port them over to an instrument that they weren't designed to be played on... Or to transpose MULTIPLE instruments pieces into one instrument... Crush the living hell out of it with technical skill... And put an entirely unique spin on it to demonstrate ones own utter mastery and creativity with their instrument is 10,000 leagues beyond what you see in most "professional" mainstream performers. This kid is a once in a multiple generations talent and the fact he didn't win handily is a complete travesty and perfectly demonstrates the devolution of musical culture in the modern era. I'd pay top dollar to watch this kid perform ANY day.

Its crazy, because ive definitely noticed that all you have to do to initially go on from the auditions is to have an emotional impact story i.e. "Oh yeah, I lost my parents in a tragic car accident 5 years ago, so I turned to music". Meanwhile this kid literally mixed classical guitar with classic music and some SOAD. And straight up was like "Hey thanks for compliments" and walked off stage. No tears, nothing.

The fact that he didn't win just proves that this show, regardless of its name, does not judge contestants based on their talent. @@xxxharleyxxx6131 Agree 100% on your # 1 player , same for me 😊 I have many favourite players of many various different styles but Buckethead is so insanely great and original sounding as any one of them ( except maybe the Gypsy Jazz / Django Reinhardt style, but I have no doubt whatsoever that he could do it very well also if he felt like trying that style as well. Thinking 🤔 about that , I’d like to hear him give it a shot actually 😊) He just straight up Slays damn near anyone who’s ever played the instrument! Buckethead is a Total Legend Killer! But in true nice guy fashion he just does it with pure skill and love of the guitar, in the very nicest way possible as you would never hear him say anything even remotely like that about Anyone Ever ! And I doubt he feels that way himself as his personal favourite was and probably still is Shawn Lane!… but it’s on KZbin in a video where even Shawn himself was in Awe talking about Bucketheads crazy skills ! Trying to play a multi layered 20? but impossible pc of music Shawn had put together just for a fun experiment, and he almost figured out a way to do it and Bucket actually got really close to being able play it by himself in one take ! 😄 great little interview with Shawn talking about exactly this very thing! ) I listen to Buckehead for hours every single day without fail ! I’ve been playing for 38 years myself and I just gotta say… He really is that Damn Good ! So great and unique that I’m constantly thinking about his stellar playing even when it isn’t playing! or I am about to put it on or already playing it !😄. He is without question as good or better than any “Legend” including his teachers or anyone in the music industry ever was or is right now … Some other tip top favourites are Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen , Jason Becker, Steve Via, Randy Rhodes , Dimebag Darrell Abbot , Zakk Wylde , Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Jake E. Lee, Dave Mustaine , Chris Poland, Marty Friedman, Chris Broderick , Jeff Loomis , Kirk Hammett, Gus G. , Tony Iommi , K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton ( as well as Richie Faulkner! That dude is a perfect fit for Judas Priest ! ) , Richie Blackmore , David Gillmore , Yngwie Malmsteen , Andy James , Angel Vivaldi, Ola Englund , SRV, Clapton , Devon Townsend , Jeff Hanneman, Django Reinhardt , John Petrucci , Tosin Abasi , this guy Marcin , Jonn Gomm 😊 Damn I can go on all day and night… with all the different styles etc. the list is endless really… But for me personally… he does so many different styles and even many different style guitars / and bass and even occasionally the banjo 😄 in the solo “Pikes” series so extremely well that to me anyways 🪣 Buckethead 🤖 is the Undisputed 👑King of All Guitarists 🎸 . His level of new song output at a high level sound quality and rhythm / riff wise and imaginative solo wise as well , especially lately is just continually unbelievable! Pike # 562 has just been released ! 😮 Unmatched by anyone out there, Nobody Else is Even Remotely Close ! 9 New pike drops last week alone! In a year or 2 he puts out as much new music as others release in an entire 40+ years long career! 🪣🎸👑 🤟🏻

Yes yes yes! For non- musicians, they have no idea how difficult Asturias is and sad and embarrassing that they did not even recognize it! There's a lot of guys that play in a similar percussive fingerstyle modality - Mike Dawes, Michael Hedges, Jon Gomm, Calum Graham, Thomas Leeb, Erik Mongrain, Antoine Dufour, Don Ross - it's a well-established style, but having said that, Marcin is an excellent exponent of that style.

That guy does more than plays music. He senses and feels it with all of his being. This is the only way he to play like that. I look forward for this diamond to shine even brighter when he learns to balance better between the notes and the pounds - sometimes the latter comes up too much, and the beautiful notes get lost in the noise. But that's just one and only thing I see/hear keeping him from inhumane perfection. He's still so young! He has more than enough talent in him to reach the pinnacles which anyone else could just dream of. Amazing!

I saw Michael Hedges in the 1990's who, to the best of my knowledge was the innovator of the piano/percussion style that Marcin plays. Although he never attained the fame of a Hendrix, he brought someting new to the guitar that was mindblowing and started an entire style and movement. Marcin is also a mindblowing virtuoso who I wish a long and deeply satisfying career with all the recognition and accolades he so deeply deserves. I cannot understand the comments by guitarists who hear Marcin or someone great and their first impulse is to quit. The great ones serve as inspiration who show that the boundaries can always be pushed a step further than we were socially engineered to believe.

@gilgamess7 күн бұрын
Not quite. His playing style has the speed of Django Reinhardt and Al DiMeola. His strumming and percussion technique reminds me of Charo. His fretboard playing is similar in technique to Stanley Jordan. This isn’t reinvention, it’s a once-in-a-generation fusion. I, too, share the utter incredulity of his not winning. I wonder what who do? A bioluminescent cat juggler? A woman rendering Pi and dowsing simultaneously?

His first two performances were just out of this world, completely free style, crazy and wild; however, to me it looked like they tried to put his music in a cage (metaphorically speaking), and hence his last act didn’t got that much vibe. Maybe people prefer cages than free spirits. Marcin do not give up on your free style, it will revolutionise the music. You remind me of Jimmy Hendrix!
