Had the good fortune to meet Ian after his show at Wellington , New Zealand in the Mid? eighties , we were at the hotel/motel House Bar where Ian and the Blockheads were staying. Great guy but he had tobacco mixed with his bag of pot , i told him to be my guest and try our Maori Wowie , he thought I said the Hawaiian pot , Maui wowie , until i told him that no , it was grown here in Kiwiville , by a Maori named Howie. Was a great guy and wrote me a sonnet , and signed my mates leather jacket... " Leather of the Weather ", a great night indeed was had by all. RIP the pair of you guys.

condensing presenters, what do they ever know of a brilliance of life that can never be fathomed - Ian had depths that no stiff human could ever reach, not because he was particularly complex, yet because he was right and raw on cue. A beautiful and amazing man, even his children equally as phenomenal - would have given my limbs to have met him, spoken to him and shared a united tipple.

Oh please... you must realise that fanboy complaint about "the presenters" is THE most cliched comment on KZbin. Of course Dury was a beautiful genius but why the hell should an inoffensive blow-dried-prime-time-skirt-for-the-masses interviewer have to be the same? There was absolutely no "condescension" whatsoever. Sure most of her questions were pretty banal but I for one certainly enjoyed Dury's responses.
